Climate scientist 'duped to deny global warming' »

Posted by: Aidenag 2 years, 8 months ago

A Leading climate scientist is considering legal action after he says he was duped into appearing in a documentary that claimed man-made global warming is a myth. Carl Wunsch, professor of physical oceanography at MIT, said the film, The Great Global Warming Swindle, was 'grossly distorted' and 'as close to pure propaganda as anything since WW2.'

Why is manipulating what someone says and passing it off as truth funny?

Its how disinformation spreads. And really there isnt anything funny about misquoting people for your own financial gains. No matter which "Side" does it..

Dont get why people will justify a lie, if the "Other side" had someone do it as well in the past.

Now science is politics! LOL! How do you know what the political beliefs are of any scientist?

I find it amazing that you can see everyone you disagree with as being manipulated by external forces and yet the things you hold dear are some sort of 'self evident truths'.

Where did this new spin "global warming is politics" come from? How did global warming so quickly become the "politically correct" position. Until very recently, it seemed to me, denying global warming came from politics and religion, while accepting global warming came from scientists. Is it because Bush has gone over to the acceptance side? Are conservatives trying to swift-boat him?

YES we should listen to the very learned PROFESSOR AL (an Inconvenient Politician) GORE. He is such a brilliant man, he has after all created a company that sells Carbon Credits to all you idiots out there who listen to AL (Jim Jones - Cool Aid pusher eh, excuse me Carbon Credits pusher) GORE. He never misses the opportunity to introduce himself as the President that was to be...Yeah, to be in his own mind and the drugs induced liberal minds of Hollywood leftists that are now "pushing" another drug (Global Warming) via the Oscars, Nobel Prize nominations and carbon credits. Get a life or better yet get an education and get off the drugs!!!

another scientist in this documentary makes a similar claim but from and opposing position. he was duped by a scientific group that I think was the UN that he supported the resulting conclusions. he had to threaten a law suite to remove his name from this report of co2 caused global warming. goes both ways

This one is almost too easy. How can people find this debunker show credible? I watched that documentary that alleges to expose the global warming hoax. Did anyone notice anything fishy about the captions which supposedly give the speakers credibility? They seem intentionally vague or incomplete. One alleged scientist is listed as a Climate Forecaster that sounds impressive, that is, if it does not mean TV weatherman. Many others are listed simply by name with the title of "Dr." Doctor of what? Dentistry? Philosophy? Many captions are just the speakers names with only the name of a respected University underneath it. What does that make the speaker, a Professor or a graduate? Some captions boldly list the Department of the University in question, but no title for the speaker. What does he do for them? Answer the phone? Deliver the mail? At least Al Gore does not pretend to be a scientist, he is a concerned citizen and educator who has done his homework.

A quick glance at Prof. Wunsch's most recent paper on his web page clearly illustrates at least one thing: Even the good professor isn't completely sure of his numbers or his methods. The FIRST thing he does is explain how difficult it is to get good data, and how hard it is to believe what you do get. He also explains that he is not really certain of his calculations, and although the paper runs to many pages, I couldn't find a concrete conclusion anywhere. The pretty graphs he presents seem to indicate the subject is too complex to definitively analyze. And, the point in the BBC presentation about solar output having a more definate and demonstrable effect seems right to me - after all, the sun puts out a hell of a lot more energy then we do. And, unless someone was just making up all those graphs in the BBC presentaion, the facts DO seem to fit the solor fluctuation explanation much better than the human generated greenhouse theory. And, I notice that Miami Beach is still there...

I dont exactly understand how he was duped, The email sent to him explaining why they wanted to interview him is pretty strait forward. Here is a link to his Partial Response to the London Channel 4 Film "The Great Global Warming Swindle" by Carl Wunsch 11 March 2007

Follow the money trail and you can find the truth about Global Warming. Al Gore pays GMI to erase his carbon foot print. Know who an exec. on that company? You guessed it good Ol' Al himself. Don't take my word for it check it out.
