Painless? Hardly. Businesses have spent tons of time and money to get their computers and PDAs set up for this. Meanwhile, providers of software such as Blackberry or Good have had to put out special releases to cover this issue.

Finally, studies have shown, based on the Australian early DST done for their Olympics, that this is going to amount to little, if any savings (in the case of Australia, energy use went UP slightly). Part of the issue, of course, is that the original study on energy savings is 30 years out of date.

Sorry to say but the new Pepsi generation coming here wants to pollute even more, they want some of the garbage pie from America before we go swirling down the commode. Its a Sisyphus kind of scenario unfortunately. But all of you who do care..keep on truckin'and push your non-polluting ways on these wonders from across our borders and beyond,we need some kind of positive influence out there no matter what anyone thinks or says.

Yes people, we can take on a much simpler life style where we leave the cars at home, love one another, feed our neighborhood squirrels, and basically live an emotionally and physically pollution free life. But we can't despite our best intentions to the contrary. Accept it, live with it.

I have some non-painful and much more productive suggestions. However, they must be exercised together in order for them to work.

First, stop criticizing your local/state/federal government for not doing enough or doing too much. Hating and criticizing depletes our personal physical energy stores which must be replenished with food which in turn consumes more energy which in turn supposedly rots the environment.

Save your energy for more positive things. Sure we all feel good when we crap on the government, but our governments are made up of people like you and me who have families like you and me and believe it or not who worry about the same things you and I do.

Nixon tried adjusting the clocks in the Seventies. It didn't work then, either.

This is an annoying pain, all the interweb fix patches are for 2007, none are permanent, indicating none of the software giants expect this to last into 2008.

I wish they (whoever) would stop screwing with the time. Why do we even need daylight savings time, to play more golf? The state of Arizona I believe does not use DST, why should we?

Just something to screw up things. It put the drive in movie business and others out of business in the past and I really don't see how it improves life for the majority. But thats just my opinion....I am sure I will hear yours. :)

does anyone even know what time it really is. My cell phone says one time, my computer another, and my girlfriends phone another, I'm voting for the middle one. Its kind of like being drunk.

let me see here, if humans contribution is less than 4% of the green house gas then what the hell does this have to do with it. I still say that reducing cow farts is the most important thing we could do to reduce global warming.

Adjust. It's not a big deal. It's great for kids, & for workers who don't have to spend 5 days a week without sunlight stuck inside.

Is this article really worth much of a debate? For people who are whining about it-i think your just kinda lazy. Crying about changing your clock? boohoo. And then to blame congress for having to change your clocks. Come on people. Its not that serious, and if its "supposedly" good for the environment, quit crying, take 2 minutes out of your oh so busy American schedule and change your clock. Jeez.

It is a real pain when one of your clocks is a cuckoo clock which must be reset by moving the hands ahead one hour. In the spring not so bad. In the fall, it is easier just to stop the clock for an hour and restart it, than to turn the clocks hands around 11 hours.

As I recall, this is the weekend of the year we should also check our smoke detector batteries. If you have not already done so, make sure your smoke detector and if you have it radon detector has a fresh battery in it.

gotta love this, what a difference it made to actually have sunlight untill 8:00. they wonder why people get the wintertime blues ,well news flash when it gets dark at 4:30 in the afternoon and its zero outside, I think that qualifies as wintertime blues. I hope they leave it like this forever...In fact they should switch it right after Christmas. Its not that hard to reset the clocks, and as far as all the comp. find a brainy guy to fix the problems....

DST was enacted in W.W.II to allow more time for farmers to work plus supposedly save energy in our factories producing war goods. It is all hokum, hog-wash, cow manure, river sludge. etc You want to work during daylight hours, get up and go to bed with the sun!

Farmers now work 24/7 if they wish as they have all waether cabs with temperature control, TV, Radio, automatic transmissions, etc. I have seen them harvesting crops at midnight!

No matter the time of day during DST or Std time, you have the same number of people working, the same number of vehicles being driven, the same number of machines operating in factories, etc. All using the same amount of energy! YOU ARE SAVING NOTHING PEOPLE.

We should quit trying to adapt nature to us and adapt to nature! We would probably be a bit healthier.

If people truly think we are saving energy by tampering with the clocks they are dreaming. The proponents of DST in this day and age are handing you a wheel barrow full of manure.

If one wants to take advantage of daylight, get up and go to bed with the sun! No matter what your clock says, there is the same amount of daylight in a day no matter which time scheme you are on. That off course depends on the season too.

Changing the time does not change the number of people working, driving, etc. noe does it change the number of machines operating to churn out products.

This entire time thing is a delusion!
