25 years ago the average woman got married at 26; now it is nearly 33. The statistics seem to point to one thing: young women - or at least young, educated women from 21 to 32 - are having a better time of it than ever before. Unburdened by responsibility, they are experiencing true economic, emotional and sexual freedom.

    Women are apparently still lying to them selves. Divorce is epidemic, as well as sexually transmitted diseases. Women are still dealing with men in a subservient position. STOP IT!!

      Articles like this drive me nuts because they lump women together in one big group and paint a big happy face on it.

      Yes, women are treated loads better in many current societies than they have been in the past. This is a Good Thing.

      Unfortunately, there are many girls who don't have the privilege of growing up in a household where they are empowered and have access to a good education and all the Wonderful Things this article insists the majority of girls have.

      So, yes life is better, but we can't really ever rest, IMO.
