N.M. lawmakers approve forcing cancer vaccine on 6th grade girls »

New Mexico is on the verge of becoming the latest state to require girls entering sixth grade to be vaccinated against a sexually transmitting virus that can cause cervical cancer, a spokesman for the governor said Monday.

For many years we (in the USA) have been "forcing" children to have certain vaccines/immunizations before they begin public school. I've read no articles about this situation. Yet, I now am reading articles saying that various states are "forcing" young girls to be vaccinated against a sexually transmitted virus so that they won't later contract cervical cancer, genital warts, etc. Let's not allow political issues cloud this health issue: provide the vaccine now and investigate the goings-on between government officials and the manufacturer of the vaccine later.

This is a great thing, this vaccine could wipe out a sexually transimitted virus. I personally know two females who are going through cancer treatment (in there early 20's!) because theyre boyfriends, someone they loved unknowingly gave them the virus.
Where I live, in my city, I have seen statisitcs as high as 68% of all 18-35 year olds who have had more than 1 partner in there life are cerrying the HPV virus! THATS SCARY. Every single person I know, male or female has had more than 1 sexual partner.
This vaccine will save lives as well as heart ache, embarassment and thousands of dollars in medical bills.

YES ,I looked forward to getting poked with some sort of 4 pronger thingy not knowing if I will be in school the next day, but most things people are brainwashed into doing because of the Fear Factor.

As much as I like the idea of the HPV vaccine, the State has NO right to mandate it. This is not an airborn virus that children can catch. As parents, you protect your own children. Had I had a girl (I have 2 boys now, ages 3 and one week) I would get her vaccinated, but it is no business of mine what you (using the word 'you' loosely) do to protect your children.

This makes me nervous. I think the vaccine is good, my concerns come from it being mandatory. Are they using the justification that cervical cancer is a drain on the states resources? As I recall HPV is a STD. There is a more expensive sex caused drain on government resources that is teen pregnancy. I fear this leads to a slippery slope that soon all girls will have to be on the pill to go to school. What is after that Chinas forced abortion policy?

This is Exactly what Hitler and the Nazi gusopto did during W.W.II????
At this time No One Really Knows what the Side effects may be... Could the New Vaccine Cause Sickness, long Term Illness, Cancer, Birth Defects (Like the Drug Thylimide did to many woman) and/or even DEATH to Young Girls????
The Rich Drug Companies stand to make Millions and Millions of Dollars at the expense of our America's Children...
I would like to see Drug Company Executives and Bill Richardson FORCE their GrandMother's, Wife's, Sister's, Daughter's, Grand daughter's and Themselves to Take this Drug before Forcing it on Young American Girls....
Drug Companies and Politicians, Just Follow the Money, this Concept Really Smells??
I like to Think Our Youg American Girls are not treated like a bunch of Sexual Pigs out of Control...
This Vaccine should be Optional and administered at the consent of the Mother/Father, Not Gov. Bill Richardson.....
