Curveball, the defector whose lies lead to war »
Posted by: Wil 2 years, 8 months agoThe Iraqi defector known as Curveball, whose fabricated stories of "mobile biological weapons labs" helped lead the U.S. to war four years ago, is still being protected by the German intelligence service. Curveball's false tales became the centerpiece of Secretary of State Colin Powell's speech before the United Nations in February 2003.

March 14, 2007, 8:40 a.m.Over three thousand Americans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis dead, but Curveball has a nice life in Germany and Dick Cheney is still vice president of the US. Bearing false witness has its payoffs, apparently.

March 14, 2007, 9:16 a.m."The CIA has since issued an official "burn notice" formally retracting more than 100 intelligence reports based on his information."
This information should not be destroyed. Douglas Feith and Dick Cheney need to be questioned under oath over this matter.
How did those lines end up back in Powell's speech? He must have read them and known he was a dead man walking. Just as Cheney desired. He was a weak link. Did not share the neo-con view.
The Germans told us long before that Curveball was a drunk and a pathological liar. Don't expect to see maybe 10 votes on this story. The American people really don't want to know how corrupt their government is. This isn't about bashing Bush. It is about finding out the truth about why we are in Iraq.

March 14, 2007, 1:32 p.m.21 VOTES. Posters view this page and have no comment. Those of you calling for impeachment should be reading this. This might be an episode that can be tracked straight back to Cheney. Someone put those words back into Powell's specch that had been removed only hours before. Who was that? And who ordered their restoration? Who thought Curveball as critical to their case.

March 14, 2007, 2:54 p.m.It's interesting that this came out right on the heels of information about an "Iranian defector" that may "make the case for war" with that country.

March 14, 2007, 4:10 p.m.Get a clue about Saddams weapons. Does the word MOBILE mean anything to anyone. Its not like we dropped in unannounced. Go to California and find a couple of tractor trailers with license plate numbers 8nw0009,5wt3879,mnv5670 and bgg4529. Not to mention they could be burried or moved out of the state of California. By the way the people that have these tractor trailors have known you were coming for over a month now.
Good Luck
Now you can see why we have not found them. Just because you do not see them does not mean they were not there.
Is it really that hard to believe that he couldve gotten rid of them because he knew his time was running out. From his point of view (which is why he was hiding in his hole) if the Americans came in and didnt find any then he figured there would be political pressure on the U.S. to restore him to power. Thankfully the world was not stupid enough to fall for his plan.
