A suspected serial killer is inextricably linked to the deaths of seven women through DNA evidence, prosecutors said in closing arguments Tuesday.

    Lorenzo Gilyard, 56, was charged with seven counts of first-degree murder in the killings, which took place in Kansas City in 1986 and 1987. He was suspected in a total of 13 deaths, but prosecutors dropped six charges because they believed the remaining cases were stronger.

    Prosecutors made DNA evidence linking Gilyard to all seven women the centerpiece of their presentation.
