    Nice find, Neo..

I'm cool with wine pairings, but dumbfounded on the beer side of things. (I'm a good western NY girl, so lots of Canadian beer) Very helpful.

I know I'm in the minority, but I think beer tastes awful. It would taste awful regardless of what food you put it with.

Use in place of water to fluff up batter for your fish and chips. Also a can of beer in the wok when steaming your mud crab. Is there anything beer can't do?

Beer pairs beautifully with seafood as well. A light ale like Nastro Peroni with prawns, scallops or white fish and stout served with rock oysters and a little pumpernickel bread. Cloudy belgian beers, Hoergaarden or Laffe Blonde with mussels and Thai Singha with it's hints of coriander and lemon-grass with a tear inducing spicy Lhaksa.

I enjoy a good wine, but give me a beer anyday. I've never been ashamed to drink beer throughout my meal surrounded by wine quaffers. Beer rocks!!

Ah, now you guys hit on two of my favorite subjects, beer and food. Good post Zen. I have a beer with my evening meal everyday. Altho I love to cook, I honestly never considered using beer beyond a marinade or beer batter. I'm going to do a search for some beer recipes.

            Agreed, Beer does rock!

And let's not neglect the can, which can be put to use for vertical grill-roasting of chicken and other birds.

Puncture the can, pouring out some of the beer (a cook's treat). Insert the can in the chicken vent so the bird is sitting on it (a sight that always elicits tedious remarks). Rub the bird with olive or other oil and roast over coals or gas, as usual.

Because the bird is upright, all sides brown evenly at the same time. The beer in the can heats and (theoretically, at least) creates steam that helps cook and flavors the bird from within.

Washing hair with the left out beer is a good way of rejuvenating your hair and would also help you not feel bad about wasting beer.
