The Wrath Of Tom DeLay »
Posted by: deathray 2 years, 7 months agoNewt Gingrich's attempted phoenix-like rise from his own political ashes to a presidential candidacy will run next week into a harsh assessment by his former House Republican colleague Tom DeLay. The former majority leader's forthcoming memoir assails Gingrich as an "ineffective" House speaker with a flawed moral compass.

March 15, 2007, 5:15 p.m.I think it's just DeLay is jealous because they both were bad politicians, and i think DeLay and Newt are in a dead heat for worst House speaker.
On a positive note: Criticism by DeLay can't be all bad, because Delay is by far the worser.

March 15, 2007, 5:31 p.m.Watch out. Next thing you know, DeLay will be throwing his hat in the ring. Else why the timing of the book. And one wonders if Newt's confession of his adultery had anything to do with the release of this book. From the article it seems that DeLay is a spoiled child who did not get his way and is now blaming everyone in sight for his downfall. Sound like the pot calling the kettle black in his indictment of Newt.
Lordy, lordy, what fools these mortals be!

March 15, 2007, 5:41 p.m.Of course, at some point, someone will brng up Hillary Clinton and her desire for power; watch and see.
The additional irony here is that the GOP are clearly just as guilty...

March 15, 2007, 5:42 p.m.Wow! That's a lot of fun--and a rare look into the machinations behind the seeming lockstep agreement of the Republicans.
What I liked most were DeLay's words about Bush expanding the powers of government, especially in the area of education.
THAT'S his criticism of Bush's expansion of government? LOL!

March 15, 2007, 5:56 p.m.As my mama used to say, "Good on 'em"! What I'd *really* love to see is Harriet Miers turn on Buschco for letting the neoclowns torpedo her SC nomination (so much for *her* up or down vote).

March 15, 2007, 6:24 p.m.I will be happy in January 2009 when the whole lot of them is cast out of Washington. Somehow, a Dick, a Bush, and a Colin did not need a Dick Arm'y to tell them what was right. Nor do we need him now.

March 15, 2007, 6:38 p.m.Very entertaining to see them eat one of their own.
I'm looking forward to reading "No Retreat, No Surredner" once it hits the bargain bin, presumably, next month.

March 15, 2007, 7:41 p.m.There are enough bugs in Texas! I wonder why DeLay is not going back to his old business of extermination. There is money to be made there!
This whole thing is funnier than mud-wrestling. When it is all over (if ever) these guys are going to come out butt-naked with everything exposed and nothing more to hide!
This is pure fun! And the nicest part is we don't have to pay for tickets to this show!

March 15, 2007, 7:46 p.m.I wonder if they'll use Tom's mug shot for the cover of his book. That was an excellent picture.

March 15, 2007, 8:36 p.m.I don't revel in the fact that these people have made the USA a laughing stock world wide, but yet again, we have to call it what it is.

March 15, 2007, 10:44 p.m.cat,
In the interest of fairness and balance, you should accept the facts that Newt and Rudy cheated on their wives and Newt served divorce papers on his wife while she was in hospital suffering from cancer, and Rudy divorced his wife at a press conference.
If you think it is OK for these two mean-spirited individuals to treat their wives that they swore to honor and protect in this shabby, unethical and immoral manner and to do it over and over again, I am terribly sorry I misunderstood you. I always considered you as a man of honor, although from time to time, we stood on the opposite side of the fence!
We all make mistakes. I guess I made one, too!
Peace and Blessings!

March 16, 2007, 9:35 a.m.DeLay's book is simply sour grapes. Gingrich may have been having an affair, so what? Congress impeached Clinton because he lied under oath, not because he had an affair. Unless Gingrich lied under oath as well, the mentioning of his affair is specious.
