April 13, 2007, 12:33 p.m.Diabetes is something health officials need to address seriously going beyond just new insulin medication and testing mechanisms. I've found a lot of this out through my father's battle with the illness. There should also be pressure put on the food industry to reduce the amount of sugar and other fructose products that can affect people's diets and contribute to type 2 diabetes, which is the one that is metabolic not autoimmune.
