I don't get how they could have changed clothes during a prison visit, unless these detainees are granted completely unsupervised and unmonitored visits, which to me seems kind of stupid.

Obviously these guys were being missed pretty badly by their organizations.

Well, another challenging moment for Conservative Hawks to ponder. This jail break and other examples is a reality check for these war hawks, Sunni's and Shia's are not stupid. You will go so far as to say the surge is working, poppycock. Its preordained we will lose no matter how many surges and faulty logic you espouse. This jail break is one of many examples that will appear. Yet, you persist in thinking your logic is overwhelmingly superior to those Iraqi insurgents. Civil wars cannot be won, I don't care if you sent in as many soldiers as were in Vietnam. The same end result will occur. But the U.S. elitist and coporate greed says the Iraqi OIL is ours alone.

I do not follow either political ideology. However, I can only thank God that the liberals see the world with such clarity .

"A security source told the agency that the prisoners had been held without charge for the past two years."

If the prisoners haven't been charged with anything for the past two years, then there is no point trying to recapture them since time itself is an exhoneration from any wrongdoing.

about the escapees from the detention centre in southern iraq, theres been so many innocent people imprisoned over there that we cannot be sure that they are guilty of anything, also if they are guilty they are not going to miss a chance to escape are they? just remember that the people wrongly imprisoned over there now are tomorrows terrorists, and then we will comlain about everybody who is a terrorist, even though it is us that turned them into terrorists in the first place

wcf and nelson: I assure you, there was more than a touch of facetiousness in my comment. Politicians on both sides of the broken fence are responsible for our present situation. Neither side has offered any palatable solutions.

So they need to make it a death penalty thing to come in and swap with a prisoner. Do that and this won't happen again, I'd say.

would the death penalty for changing places be for americans as well or just for non americans?
