March 17, 2007, 3:54 p.m.We have always been in the military, we will always be in the military, and we deserve the same respect as any other member of the military. Gays too have sacrificed life and limb for the safety and security of this nation, and not just in the current war.

March 17, 2007, 4:48 p.m.No need for this man to apologize. He stated his personal beliefs and he is entitled to that.

March 17, 2007, 5:09 p.m.They "demanded an immediate and unqualified apology." Who do they think they are? They have no right to demand that any American apologize for stating his or her beliefs. This is the dark side of the gay agenda working at its best. They don't just want equality, they want to make it criminal to disagree and express disagreement with their lifestyle choice. Well someone stop me now...homosexuality is immoral!!!!!!!!!!!!

March 17, 2007, 5:21 p.m.I don't get it. I was in the NAVY. I thought it SUCKED. (If you'll excuse the expression.) I joined at age 19 and got married shortly thereafter. Two major BLUNDERS! Why in the Gosh, Darn, Heck do "Gays" want to make the same horrible mistakes I made? GAYS! LISTEN! DON'T DO IT!

March 17, 2007, 5:36 p.m.WC, of course the issue isn't the DESIRABILITY of serving; it's the RIGHT to serve without having to hide one's sexual nature.
"Don't-ask" enshrines gayness as dirty secret; it's an antediluvian position that continues to cause gay people great harm.

March 17, 2007, 5:39 p.m.Lying to a superior officer is a violation of the UCMJ. Lying to ones own self is immoral in my book. Why should gays and lesbians be dishonest and hide their identity? Many see serving the country as a patriotic commitment. Why can't gays and lesbians show the same level of patriotism as their straight counterparts? The "Don't Ask/Don't Tell" policy is draconian and should be repealed.

March 17, 2007, 5:41 p.m.Harbeas, Pace OFFENDED all the gay soldiers upon whose strength, in every sense, the military relies.
Real politic, at the least, dictates that an apology to them be offered.
Anyone can say anything; but every act has consequences...

March 17, 2007, 5:48 p.m.I'd support the don't ask part..whose business is it? really people force the don't tell part by putting homosexuals in a position that they have to defend themselves,(sometimes literally in a physical way) and sounds like all they want to do is defend America, why should they have to worry about defending their self in the process?

March 17, 2007, 5:50 p.m.Offended? Get a thicker skin. He stated a personal belief and he has that right! You should never apologize for your personal beliefs.

March 17, 2007, 9:54 p.m.Want to talk about Gays in the Military? Look at Alexander the Great! He conquered much of the pre-Roman ancient world and ruled firmly. He usually had sex with a young man prior to going into battle so he could build up his stamina! I admit I am being facetious, but I know I would fight harder for my lover in the foxhole more than some soldiers. If that builds unit cohesion, than so be it.

March 18, 2007, 5:15 a.m.It just shows the state of society today when i voice the opinion that sexual deviancy is wrong, yet I'm seen as the bad guy.
Forget religion, if we examine evolutionary theory, homosexuals don't reproduce, so even evolution says they are freaks that can not sustain or advance life.
Other than modern public opinion, can anyone provide one arguement why i should accept homosexuality and I'm a disgusting a$$hole for not doing so?

March 22, 2007, 4:06 p.m.If they want to serve, fine, but dont make it any more stressfull for the normal soldiers by flaunting this deviate behavior in a manner which would make our soldiers the target of ridicule all over the world, with the stresses of war and death they dont need something else to worry about,so dont ask dont tell is 100 percent on,dont like it dont join,P.S. oh just in case i served and would prefer no gays in the military and unless you can find a man that slept with another man and that man conceived a child ,then its not normal behavior,it is a mental disease coupled with deviate behavior and it should not be flaunted in front of children.
