US Military Bases Around the World »
Posted by: populist 2 years, 9 months agoPeople in US cities would be outraged if another country garrisoned its troops close by with all the resulting fallout: unacceptable noise, pollution, environmental destruction, appropriation of valued public real estate along with drunken soldiers on the loose violating laws, causing damage and raping local women. March 16, 2007, 5:46 p.m.The author of this article must be stupid or an avid crack smoker.
The other countries welcome us because:
1) We supply great jobs and boost the local economy.
2) We provide a deterrent to anybody who would attempt a coup/invasion/installation of military junta, etc.
I hope the author of this article isn't an American. If he is, he really should leave and renounce his citizenship.

March 17, 2007, 1:19 p.m.Has anyone made a check of German bases in the U.S.? I'm curious because they may, in fact, be co-located on American bases. In Germany there may be two joint bases and the rest are soverign American facilities. I do not understand WTF German bases in the U.S. have to do with being recognized by liberals. Please explain.

March 21, 2007, 12:52 p.m.See here's the problem. What the hell are we still doing in these bases anyway? As long as they're there, the host countries will never develop their own defenses to protect themselves. I mean the idiot, who first responded to this article, with the exception of the new central asisn bases, the european bases are there to defend against the now defunct Soviet Union and there are just as many negatives having them there than positives
