STONERS
March 22, 2007, 11:10 a.m."In a pandemic, we will see people avoiding discretionary travel and avoiding large gatherings for the legitimate fear of contagion," said Jeffrey Levi, executive director of Trust for America's Health. "It's a natural reaction not to want to be in large groups when there is an easily transmittable disease afoot."

March 23, 2007, 6:03 a.m.I hope that people remember this quote of avoiding large gatherings when BushCo opens up the new Halliburton Hotel chain "death camp" and demands that people are quarantined there under the guise of bird flu for their safety.

March 23, 2007, 9:10 a.m.I grew up in a college town. (Guess which one).
There were students from all over Fla and from a bunch of the world. Each student has the potential to bring a local illness with him/her and it seems to spread like wildfire in a college town.
I now live in O'lando and we get exposed to illnesses from all corners of the globe.
In today's global society, it is possible to spread a disease from anywhere in the world to anywhere else, in less than a day. Very, very scary.
Spread of disease/illness is a serious problem in areas that draw foreigners. One theory has it that the Black Plague in Europe in the 1300's originated at a port and was imported on a merchant or war ship. This killed 1/3 of Europe and lasted something like 50 years.
The most deadly weapons today are not bombs. They are diseases.
