I don't like him...but Ahmadinejad is gutsy and is doing a credible job of supporting his nation's sovereignty. There is no realistic fear that he will be nuked. No one in the world wants to open that can of worms. With the tensions and and sanctions looming plus our new history of pre-emptive strikes he has to consider even a mistaken incursion into Iranian waters a test to measure his military reaction time and capability. Thus, he has to make a rapid show of force and quick reaction time to such incursions, accidental or not.

As for the idea of Iran getting nuked...check out General Sir Rupert Smith's new book "The Utility of Force."

Let's wait and see what happens. Iran's M.O., like North Korea's M.O., relies on political brinkmanship, but usually don't back up their tough talk with actions. This is especially true since Ahmadinejad's domestic policy failures have made him very unpopular, both with the Iranian public and the Iranian gov.

At the very least, we should let the British take the lead on this controversy. It is, after all, their troops. If the British want to try to a diplomatic approach first, then we shouldn't beat the war drums just yet. Besides, I don't know if the military has enough servicemen to handle Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran simultaneously.

On the other hand, if the British request NATO and the U.S. for help in a military strike against Iran, I don't see how such a request could be refused.

          The news is indeed troubling...

All these warmongerers need is a reason. Any reason. This could be Iran's downfall. I hope it is resolved quickly. I'm not so worried about Iran as I am the U.S. soldiers that may get hurt or maimed during a conflict.

good bit of history people don't bother looking in to. Any thing that has any thing to do with war these days is all the USAs fault. Even when its not. They just say it is and the left accepts that as fact because "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" i guess in their twisted world. They choose another country over the USA every time.

Liberals currently in office HATE the USA and simply want to change every thing they can. So they blame the administration for things they will do as well.

Maybe Katie Couric or Barbara Walters can go over and interview Ahmadinejad and help us Americans understand that he is truly a nice guy and doesn't want to harm us...

I for one, think this is an act of friendship and that he clearly wants to work with America...Don't you, liberals ?

it is beyond dispute that the british marines were a hell of a lot closer to iran than iranian ships were to british territorial waters. the US has had special ops guys inside of iran for years. why is it ok for the US and britiain to be running all over iranian sovereignty, but wrong if iran was going to engage in the same acts against the US and britain? if it's wrong for iran to be operating inside of iraq than it is equally wrong for the US, britian and israel to be operating inside of iran.

I think we have danced this dance before. As a young sailor I fought a stupid war that was justified by the "Gulf of Tonkin Incident", xame home with a broken back, and have been crippled ever since. Now my nephew is in Iraq, a Marine sniper, fighting because George W. idiodically linked Iraq to WMD and 911. Will he come home alive, or just missing a leg? How many young Americans will have to go off and fight because of some stupid event such as this? The only answer to such questions by the US government is blood, and more blood. When blood is the argument, how can the positor be considered moral and just?

                                                    lets get real people.

if 15 iranian commandos were found on a merchant ship in American waters we'd all consider it a threatening act at least, an act of war at most. why should the iranians be any different than us in considering this an act of aggression?

and this is the second time this has happened. the first time the captured brits were paraded on TV and then released.

all this incident has done is weaken the west's negotiating stance concerning iranian nuke capability by gving Iran a (very good) reason NOT to sit down at the table with the west.

and all of it done in front of the entire world.

                                                    embarrassing and stupid.
