March 26, 2007, 10:31 a.m.Obviously there's no military solution. The longer our stay, the more blowback to deal with.
We've destroyed Iraq. Estimates range to about 4 million displaced or killed since this war began (out of a population of 24 million). Its finest have fled.
We've also irradiated Iraq with DU, which by some estimates will eliminate another 10% of the population in the next decade.
The oil contracts (written by Chevron Condi's State Department and Big Oil lobbies) that has now gone from the puppet regime's ministries to the greased Iraqi Parliament are 35 year commitments - worth $ trillions to the Dumbya dictatorship's cronies. So don't expect a withdrawal of our troops anytime soon. Why would Dumbya be building 14 PERMANENT bases near the oil fields?

March 26, 2007, 12:05 p.m.Suprised and happy to see that everyone agrees on this, so far. But I get the feeling either way this will escalate. And whether they stay there or come home, I think it will be coming to our country soon enough. Get these loved ones back home before we have no one to defend us!!!
GOD BLESS ALL WHO ARE OVER THERE NOW,THAT THEY MAKE IT HOME SAFE!!!! WE ALL LOVE YOU(though some may not show it)

So let me get this straight, the Americans come in to an area of fighting and then it calms down a little and then they leave, only for the violence to return. What are we, hall monitors?
You oxymoron should know that installing a puppet regime to steal oil is not very easy, you need to pay a very heavy price, where the population hate you like a plague, it is only Sadam who was able to control Iraq for more than 3 decades where as the worlds best army is being killed like street dogs. American force are the enemy of the Muslim world and they will lose and America's down fall is in the hands of Bush & co.

March 26, 2007, 9:50 a.m.Who will be the last American soldier to die in this ridicules fiasco that our fasist regime has brainwashed America into calling Iraqi freedom. How long will we sit back and allow our sons and daughters to be sacroficed in Bushes plan for world domination. We are told that if we do not fight "them" over there then we will have to fight them over here. I suggest that our brave soldiers come home and start fighting them over here because it was the CIA that brought us 9-11.
The truth will set you free.

Yes, it is well past time for the Iraqi people to stop milling around smoking cigarettes and stand up on their own two feet"! America has sacrificed enough for these people.!
America is an uninvited occupier, Iraqis and Afghanis need no advice from the American and the Israelis.

March 26, 2007, 3:18 p.m.sniper91 I think most of us vets would agree with you. Its mainly the chickenhawks sitting safely out of harms way that want it to continue. There will be no military victory.
If Iraq doesn't want to defend itself, so be it. Let them decide their own destiny.
God Bless ALL our troops, Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors, & Marines.

March 26, 2007, 11:30 a.m.President Bush's supporters have confused the issues with respect to the war in Iraq and the war in al-Qaeda. Bush's own study groups have shown that Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with 9/11 and that he had no weapons of mass destruction. I will be charitable, and assume that President Bush was honestly mistaken about the existence of weapons of mass destruction. But whether he lied to us or was merely mistaken, he still acted on false information, and that false information cannot be used as a justification for continuing the war in Iraq. The situation in Iraq is a civil war. The Sunnis and the Shiites have been going at one another for over 1,300 years. There is nothing we can do to stop it, and we certainly should not be dying over it. We should quit decimating our military, get them home so that we can protect ourselves against the Muslim terrorists, and work on energy alternatives so that the shieks can go pound sand literally and never again be a threat to world peace.

March 26, 2007, 2:56 p.m.Psychopath. WWII had the support of the majority of the american people. And it was against facist countries that threatened the borders.
The only ones here that are trying to prevent dead americans are the Dems. You cowards who are afraid to a admit a mistake and are subjecting soldiers to police actions in foreign civil wars are the worst scum this country has ever produced. Putting ideology infront of the good of the country is what traitors do. Con scum only wants power, at the cost of the good of the country.

March 26, 2007, 1:12 p.m.The surge has started, correct?
Has the conservatives won yet? Perpetuation of stupidity, is stupid.
For all you idiots that promote this war, I said last week the surge will never work and that the Shia's will lie low for just so long. The Sunni's have not surprised me by their continued suicide bombings against the Shia's. Guess what, the Shia's are now getting upset and sectarian violence will again be on the rise. I think the Sunni's have proven they are not stupid like so many think they are.
My how inane leaders and conservatives on this blog can be. Same thing day in and day out, yet they fail to face reality, amazing. You will never accept a fact of life even when it confronts your eyes each and every day. I finally get it, You think a miracle is around the corner.

March 26, 2007, 1:45 p.m.We are in the middle of what is known as a Religious War, like the Holy Crusades There were 3 of them or is it Vietnam Part 2. If we got all the news media out of the Middle East we could be done with the whole thing and everyone would be home within six months. The average American has no idea of how dangerous or how much of a threat the Middle East is to our way of life. How many of us want our churches torched while those doing it stand around and laugh about it & it gets worse then that or snipers picking off your kids on their way to school?

March 26, 2007, 5 p.m.LEFREAK - Its not a question of not wanting to die. So lets first get that out of the way. Most Americans do not desire our intrusion into the business of another soverign nation. But you in Iraq have the same dilema, nationalist within your own country have one thing in mind, their agenda to corrupt others. The world and nations are one in the same, most are peace loving and hard working individuals that want to exist and raise a family in peace.
When you have conservatives and an Idiom of Nationalism or religious intolerance you then have wars. So blame leaders of nations not the citizens. Just to make you feel better I will agree to one your premises, Bush's always made their money on oil, so yes they are trying to keep the Iraq oil flowing to America without any stoppage. Saddam, even as evil as he was, was more of an attribute for Iraq than the Bush doctrine of dictorial power.
So where now, rid all nations of Nationalist, peace will prevail. Osama is a nationalis.

March 26, 2007, 11:57 p.m.If Bush has blood on his hands, what about those who gave him the authority to go to war? This man must be stopped, and 2008 seem so far away. In the meanwhile, families will have to pray that their loved ones come back safely.
