Posted by: coreyspring 2 years, 9 months ago

The suffering of people in Darfur is "unbearable" and the United Nations should consider stronger sanctions against the Sudanese government for not stopping violence in the region, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Sunday.

"I believe we were RIGHT in taking land from native Americans"

Oh ko, you mean you think it was okay to steal from the indigenous people ?

What a flaming crock, The way I figure it the U.S. Government owes those people large cheese.

        You are confused.

You obviously conflate muslims with Arabs, not realizing that many muslims are non-arab and many arabs are non-muslim.

"When you go, I dont trust black people, they steal stuff. Are you saying white people dont steal stuff?"

You confuse race with ideology. Islam is not a race, it is a system of thinking and a culture. Races do not vary in superiority, but cultures do.

Hmmm, there seems to be a massive pogrom in effect by the ruling Junta to eliminate another group of people.

                They are starving them out.

Thay are beating them in the streets.

They are imprisoning them in record numbers.

Why are they doing this? They seem to really hate those guys.

You tell me why? The Crimes occuring in Dafur are a blight upon the Earth, who is going to stand up and help the oppressed?

It has become obvious sanctions aren't working, they are just cementing the rule of the Warlords.

So, how long will it be allowed to continue?

Once again you are correct SageXparadox! :) /tiphat

Hmmm, must not be a payday for liberating Dafur today.

You know what? I would just bet that a coordinated UN attack could shut this crap down.

Why involve the States in the action? Surely the Brits or the Germans could kick arse just as easily, Maybe even a Russian Team ?

So now we have an "obligation" to stop genocide? That's an interesting point. We have an obligation to use our wealth, power and resources to stop something our country virtually has no national interest in but when we involve ourselves in something where our national interests are at stake (e.g. securing Iraq and other parts of the middle east from becoming terrorist states/strongholds) we should just let it go. Yeah, we'll get far that with that gameplan.

Maybe we could get away with pursuing our national interests abroad so long as the countries we do it in don't have oil. Cause nobody wins when America tries to make a profit, it just can't be allowed.

Another war in Africa that the world needs to address. Why!

There are many nations within Africa? Are they incapable of coming together to promote peace upon their continent.

Why is the world not addrssing this fact. Self reliance and determination. Are Africans stupid and without resolve to benefit their own continent. Why is the idea of intruding upon another nation or continent by the archaic colonialist thinking not the abnormal?

Can the Africans govern and assist their neighbors without a U.N. mandate. Leave them to their own destiny. Now I do not single out Africa alone but I do include other parts of the world to determine their own fate. The middle east is a prime example. If they in the middle east desire theocracies, despots or totalitarian regimes, so be it. I thinketh the U.S. and Europeans continue on a path of colonialism thinking to the true detriment of the prosperity and self determination that is sorely needed by nations. Our rich want supremecy, fact

SageXparadox - Personally, I would tell them solve this yourself. By our present course of action the world already hates us, even feeding them or helping them in natural disasters, they hate us. Enough is enough.

Lots of Americans out there and our infrastructure that needs modernization are my main goals in life, not someone who does or will hate us for our assistance.

Here's another fact people do not know. German Chancellor Merkel belongs to NATO and they have troops in Afghanistan as part of this force in an attempt to battle the Taliban and help Afghanistan in its stuggle for peace.

One problem thought, The Germans made it clear their troops, when they went to Afghanistan, would be in safe secure areas where no fighting was taking place or else they would not go. Now you call this an ally for America and our stupid president accepts this. Why are we in Nato? Why do we have bases all over the world squandering more money we don't have. Oh the lunacy of it all. Politicians in America should be kicked out of office in the rear end.

Over population that cannot be controlled except by death.

Yet, I am sure the women keep pooping out more kids. What kind of person would bring life into a treacherous world?

Maybe they have hope the USA will feel sorry and bring them over to collect welfare.

People have plenty of warning to leave the sesspools before the agressive leadership take over. Better to starve in a field somewhere than hope the pit bulls will have mercy.

I do not understand why people stay like sitting ducks.

thats not a bad joke. I heard a similar one about a liberal who happened upon the same injured man but not only did he walk away, he skipped church to boot. To make himself feel better though, the liberal decided it was his life's business to tell others that it was their job to help out the injured man and everyone else less fortunate than the liberal.

The difference is, at least the neo-con can be honest about being an a-hole. The liberal can't live with people knowing that about him. The great "deceiver" as you so put it Sage.

Darfur is no one's concern save for Sudan. It's a sovereign nation and does not need others butting in with their ideas on how a foreign nation should handle its affairs.

There is an African Union force in Sudan now. What in the world have they been doing??

"7,800-strong AU peacekeeping force, which has been deployed in Darfur since the government and Darfur rebels reached a cease-fire agreement in April 2004"

They have obviously been totally ineffective

" Sudan agreed in November to a three-stage UN plan that would strengthen the AU operation and culminate in a 22,000-strong joint UN-AU peacekeeping mission."

"But in January, Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir said UN troops were not required in Darfur because the AU force on the ground could maintain order."

Of course the US could always go there and bring the people to the USA for welfare.

It still has taken too long but so it is with politics . Love and compassion still conquers all. If you have a heart for those in Darfur please let your voice be heard.
