Dakota, you went to the set of the 'Price is Right' and you did not take me! I am a big fan of Bob Barker. It will be so sad to see him retire.

    Excellent write up, Dakota. Thanks

      No Matter Where You Stand,

You have to say, THANK YOU BOB, for all that you have done in entertainment and Taking Care of the earths ANIMALS. Please listen to BOB, If you cant take care of them, get them fixed. I place moneys to help the less fortunate, all that can spare a little should.

Definitely the end of an era, he's probably the best host ever of the best game show ever.

OK, I think that NOW I understand why al Quida hates Americans. We are SO wealthy, SO slothful, SO idiotic that we have time and can make the effort to give a sh*t about a TV GAME SHOW. I mean, COME ON - people blubbering about a TV SHOW? And a stupid game show at that? (sorry, stupid game show is redundant, at least in this case.) If they put George Hamilton on there, no one will notice a difference. Except perhaps to note that all of a sudden Bob has gotten much funnier. Give me a GOOD, MEANINGFUL game show - like "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader" (Answer is apparently NO, not since I was a 6th grader) or some such where you can MAYBE learn something. Re-Learn?. I guess everyone needs a hobby, but between THIS and "Wheel of Fortune" (not to mention EVERY reality show [read "soap opera"]) I'd guess the average U.S. IQ has dropped a good 20 points. Come to think of it, if they put George on there, maybe I will start watching it - he's pretty damn funny.

I can remember Truth or Consequences, and i have watched The Price is Right ever since it came on, when not at work!

Sad indeed. He's been a fixture on TV for decades. Who here, when sick in bed from school or work, no matter how bad you felt, perked up when you heard, "Mary Jones(or whoever) COME ON DOWN!"? Bob always seemed to be having fun, though the last few years he seemed scared when a constestant jumped up and down and tried to hug him, lol!

"It's the saddest thing, because it's end of an era," says Ken Ratliff, 52-year-old resident of Cle Elum, Washington.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Not sure the show will survive without him!!!

Geez, when I first saw this article headline, I immediately jumped to the conclusion that Barker had DIED.

Glad to see I was wrong. Sorry he's leaving, but he's earned his retirement, don't you think?

All things end & now its time for Bob to say goodby- but I'm sure he'll go with his usual class- just enjoyed watching him cringe when some 300lb woman tried to jump on him in a frenzy as they won a motorcycle that was completely of no use to them. Bob had the quick step perfected - maybe that's what keeps him young

Truly sad to see him go, but I hasten to think what he will do in his retirement. I hope it lasts longer for him than retirement did for Charles Schulz. As soon as Schulz finished penning his last Peanuts cartoon, he died the next day.

Bob, have a great, well-deserved and long lasting retirement.

Enjoy your beauties now that you have time.

I always hated the price is right. It is a bunch of phonies walking around-estatic about 0. As long as the show has been on television you would think I would have met someone who said they won something off of the show.

I never have so therefore it is a lie-like Publisher's Clearing House,Supermarket sweep and all of the massive game shows that promise you a lot and fair to deliver.

Game shows are as American as Free. When you see anything marketed as such people should swiftly run the other way.

Only in America can the senile work for 50 years and have people believe they are sane.

You need only to watch the show once to know what is going on.

The only exercise my mom performed all day was jumping up and down during the show.

If he ever did any of the models on the show as alleged he would never remember any way.

gee evel--you sound so bitter--i have no real love for the show or bob--but i grew up with my mother watching it every day--and now when i click past it i get a wierd connect because i know this 92 year old woman is still siiting in her chair with the remote watching the same show i am--its like a bizarre version of looking up at the same star as someone far away--knowing they are too--its stupid and fake but thats where we grew up and live..you dont create the life you grow up in..it just happens to you..and if you're really lucky it means something good to you..it does to me--and i do know someone who was on the show and won a bunch of stuff--a boat ..camper..big stuff-but with the tax laws we have winning stuff on shows like this is usually a really bad thing..unless its cash...you have to pay 50% taxes on the msrp value..which no one comes close to really paying for anything..so you end up paying almost more in taxes than it would have cost to actually buy whatever it is you won
