March 27, 2007, 8:20 p.m.I would love to have a McDonalds like that.
All of our Mcdonalds are manned by non english speaking people who could care less and since I am tired of complaining to the corporate HQ
I just don't go there any more.

March 27, 2007, 10:03 p.m.Looks inviting. I have seen similar McDonalds' experiments in West Virginia. Kind of hard to see an upscale restaurant without hearing a "Howdy ya'll, welcome to McDonald's? Are you fixing to eat?"

March 27, 2007, 11:50 p.m.No matter how upscale they make it the only people who will crowd in will be seniors for their discounts.
I do not think they need to change the atmosphere as much as they need to get rid of the fat.
I love their apple,grape-yougart salad.
Wish they would use whole wheat breads and not deep fry their foods.

March 27, 2007, 11:52 p.m.mcdonalds is mcdonalds, whether they change the look of the restaurant or not, your still putting that crap in your body, sure they may have made the seats all nice and painted the walls, put up a few artistic paintings, but in the end, does any of that matter, yeah the food tastes good but it's not good, and its not good for the environment either, all those fry boxes and burger wrappers flying around down main street.
eat there if you want but wouldn't you rather eat somewhere civilized where the food is still quick but it doesn't come in a wrapper, where the food isn't loaded in grease.
that's just my opinion of mcdonalds or more, the entire fastfood industry, willing to feed us crap thats super cheap so they get a load of money.

March 28, 2007, 12:25 a.m.Funny, back in 1980 I was overheard by a McDonalds owner saying, "the coffee was like making love in a canoe; F**ing near water." He made a pot himself and brought me a cup that "had some color to it." Now they seem to have come full circle. HEY! Did I start all this?!

March 28, 2007, 12:30 a.m.Am I the only person here that's seen the film Demolition Man where they eat at that really high class Taco Bell? This made me think of that.

March 28, 2007, 1:13 a.m.I went to a couple of McDonalds in New Zealand that had the regularfood on one side, and right next to it was a specialty coffe bar that sold various coffees, muffins and other "quality" snacks. Similar to a Starbucks, but it all carried the McDonalds name and was sold right there inside.

March 28, 2007, 9:15 a.m.If I ever choose to eat in a McDs again, it would be nice to sit in one that didn't feel like you were having lunch at a preschool.

March 28, 2007, 9:32 a.m.What's next... changing the color of Ronald McDonald's size 35 shoes from red to a nice earth-tone tan. McDonalds is what it is... and they get 50 million customers a day... why would they even want to change... You can put a Big Mac on a fancy table... but it's still going to be a Big Mac... can someone pass me a few more fries?

March 28, 2007, 10:41 a.m.i wish they close them all. Then kids wouldn't pressure their parents to go there.
Some hotels in Europe before you check in, they weigh you and you will pay per kilo. if you are 100 kilos and your friend is 50 kilos. You will pay double his price. I think it is a good idea. I wish they start that here. Then people would definitely care about their weights

March 28, 2007, 10:58 a.m.I don't blame weight problems on McDonalds,or any other fast foods or food you just know are bad for you. People have to take responsibility for their own choices. Back in the day when McDs first opened, they did not have nutitional info for everyone to see, and back in the 60s people were not as obese or diet conscience as they are today, how odd!. Ok it is cra@@y (if you even want to call it food), but it's probably a bit healthier then it was 20-42 yrs ago, yes still cr@p.
You have choices regardless and have to be responsible for those choices.

March 28, 2007, 12:52 p.m.I don't care how they decorate --- I'm offended that a place like McDonalds or any other fast food establishment can even call itself a restaurant!
And while it's not the point of the story (or maybe it is in some parallel universe) but McDonald's is one of the bad guys when it comes to issues of fat Americans and now not only is the store "supersizing" but the people pictured in the story == not exactly 'normal' sized themselves.

March 28, 2007, 1:05 p.m.I agree about the supersized customers. And the photo of the kid still acting like a kid in the place is enough to keep me in the drive-thru the couple of times a year I eat at McDonald's. McDonald's is not a place for the voluntarily childless.

March 29, 2007, 2:17 p.m.i hear alot of people talking how bad mcd's is for you but so is every other fast food joint, they say eating 1 regular order of general tsos chicken is as bad as eating two big macs with fries, as far as calories go anyway. what bugs me about mcd's lately though is that the one close to me always plays fox news 24-7 in the dining area,so i wont go there unless i want a good laugh.

March 29, 2007, 3:50 p.m.It's not just that the food isn't good for you, It's that mc.d's isn't clean.
I don't remember who proved it but there's a serious hygeine problem with the mc.d's employees...I read that about two months ago.
