A pair of bald eagles, a species that has recovered from the brink of extinction in the last 40 years, has built a nest in a former Navy yard on the south side of Philadelphia, the sixth-largest U.S. city and where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were written.

"They have eggs in the nest and you can tell they are incubating by their behavior," said Doug Gross, an endangered bird specialist for the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

Pretty incredible comeback for a species that just twenty years ago was teetering on extinction. And no, I don't think that's an exageration.

If there is reincarnation I want to come back as an American Bald Eagle.

They shouldn't even be called "developers" they don't develop anything except the fatness of their wallets. The eagles will surely lose, they'll wait till the eglets are gone, and quickly chop down the tree to build condos. Eagles don't just go elsewhere to live when that happens, they might not mate ever again.

Here in British Columbia, we have so many Bald Eagles that someone murdered over 200 of them for their feathers! It is suspected that those feathers were passed to other native Canadian and native indians around North America. No suspects have been charged yet, even though the RCMP say they know who did it!

Wild species are surely endangered all across North America, mainly because of loss of habitat. This is all because of so called developers. We need to have teeth in laws and enforce them.

          Alas, I don't think we'll do it.
