Yes, I'm a cheapskate, but I'm also a bit of a romantic. So I've had to get creative in order to win my date over without spending too much. What follows are just some ideas - the key is to use your imagination, and you'll be able to come up with a bunch of your own.

Really excellent ideas, although some of them are 'obvious' it still helps to have such a list to jog your memory and keep a variety of possibilities on the table.

When my hsb and I first started dating we both drove through our respective hometowns together and shared stories about the different landmarks in our lives. It brought a sense of identity and intimacy to our relationship.
Even old photos can be fun (just pick a few significant ones not ALL of them).
And let's not forget the "mix-tapes", which are now more often 'pod-casts'.

no mention of chocolates!?! can't win over the fairer sex without chocolate being involved.
great ideas. one that we really like is to get takeout and bring it somewhere nice. one time we were on vacation and we got takeout pizza and sat in our car by a lighthouse on a foggy night. man the lousy, cheap pizza and teeny itsy little bottles of wine with screwtops seemed so good with the fog horn blowing and the light coming around every 30 seconds or so. we still talk about years later.

Like ALL of us guys know...money is more important than getting to actually learn and know a lady.
Remember your school days... the guy with the money ALWAYS got the girl. It's always been that way.
