Despite efforts to eradicate Afghanistan's opium production, the problem keeps getting worse. And the Taliban insurgency is the primary beneficiary. Now, some European governments are weighing a legalization of the drug trade.

prohibition never works unless the goal of said prohibition is to enrich those who trade in black goods and law enforcement.
legalize all drugs, control them, tax them and provide help for people who are addicted. get the money of the hands of criminals, gangbangers and terrorists.

The only way to stop drugs from destroying lives, is to eliminate it all together. If you legalize it, even more people will see thier lives and the lives of thier loved ones destroyed.

The type of legalization mentioned in the story is for Pharmaceutical companies that use the opiate base in drugs like oxycontin (made famous by Rush Limbaugh). I don't think NATO intends to legalize it for the normal everyday want-to-be user. The drug is much to addictive. It would be for prescription use only.

The European nations that have legalized drugs and moved addiction from a legal to a medical problem have all seen a massive drop in crime and amazingly, a drop in addiction as well. Our War on Drugs is as wrong headed and impossible to win as our War on Poverty and our War on Terror.
Armies are good at fighting armies. Armies are completely incapable of fighting ideas, desires, and economic injustice.

See prime example of people like eddie. They talk about a sister or something that got hooked on a drug that Is made LEGALLY but when stolen and sold on the black market it kills. Well let me tell you this eddie. There are doctors making big money selling it without a script so logic tells you that laws in place OR NOT DOING A DAMN THING.
Here is the problem with conrtoling something like making it illegal. There will always be someone who will make profit from selling it. But they are not paying taxes or their share of the pie to the rest who get money from taxes that should be paid. Like prohibition was in the 20's the drug trade has created big corperation type gangs that have enough money to buy what ever justice THEY WANT.
Now some say privatize drugs others say get the gov't to control it. The only way you can control it is to tax it. That is it. Take it out of the hands of gangs/mob and put it in the hands that will pay taxes.

Tax him/her bring in more money for programs that will help others. It will be a big cash cow for everyone. Legalize hemp, to smoke and make other products out of it. Hmmmm tax it make money. Too simple I know.
Enough is enough. It is not a moral issue it is a cash cow for the DEA and other gov't agency that make money off of this. They are not giving up there rice bowls as one on here would say.
But in reality the money that would be made would be more than what the DEA and others make. But they are still making a lot and legalizing will never happen as long as they have the power.

I am sick of hearing from people that want to control everything you do. I don't need another mommy I have one and she is enough. I do not need someone else to say oh that is bad for you. Eating is bad for you we must control what you eat.
Drinking sodas is bad for you we have to take it off the market. Eating candy is bad for stop it now. Breathing is bad for you stop it now. Sleeping is bad for you stop it now. It is my life aint it time for me to tell you to get the F*ck out of my life and let me live it the way I want to.
I want to be able to eat a pork samich' and drink a nice cold bottle of Shiner Boch and watch hockey in HD and see some savages on the ice. I do not need some moron to tell me that is bad to do. I know it is but it is my life not yours get out of my life.
