STONERS
March 29, 2007, 11:43 p.m.The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Thursday it had no plans to suggest a wider recall to pet food companies, and veterinarians said they have not seen a trend of animals becoming ill after eating dry pet food.
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals plans to make the appeal Friday in Washington after it said it received complaints from pet owners who claim their animals suffered kidney failure after eating dry pet food.

March 29, 2007, 11:54 p.m.WOW! I do believe the Vets who say that IF the dry food was contaminated they'd see many more cases of ill pets. But please keep us posted, Stoners, if the recall does include dry food, in the future.

March 30, 2007, 12:25 p.m.Why not just test All pet foods? What could it hurt to test it all?
It would give people peace of mind to know for sure the dry food is not going to kill their pets. Peace

March 30, 2007, 6:46 p.m.EVERYONE read the link provided by desinbr; I've read similar stories from different sources. One thing I didn't see in this article though, is what the pet food makers consider acceptable for rendering: the four "D's." In other words, any animal that is diseased, dead, down, or dying is potential pet food.
What do you think happens to all the dead farm animals, pets, road kill? Is there a heaven where all the dead animals go? Are they burned? buried? flushed down the toilet? Environmental regulations prohibit dead animals from being burned and in most cases buried. Instead, many are hauled to renderding plants to be made into pet food.
A couple of months ago I put my dogs on a diet of all meat and natural cereals - not meat by-products found in Purina or Iams, et al. Today, they have more energy and look and act healthier. I won't claim a connection between traditional pet food and my dogs'new diet. But I'll never feed them the junk ever again!

March 30, 2007, 8:14 p.m.Just cook regular food for your pets and they will not get sick unless the foods you make make you sick then thats another story. Then the pet food industry will suffer nicely. If you can cook for yourselves then cook for you pets as well. It will not take too much longer to do that. GEEEEEEEE
