Brawl halts team sports in Greece »

Greek authorities have canceled all team sports matches for two weeks after a mass brawl between rival women's volleyball fans left one man dead. Witnesses say about 300 fans fought using clubs, knives and stones.

"They were jumping on our car for five minutes, they were asking for our mobile phones and stabbed our driver," one witness said.
Sounds more like "Ghetto Youths", as we are instructed to call them. Hasn't so much to do with Sports.

What did you expect, this is Greece. They still think that Sparta is the prevailing Idiom and governing body. But yet they do party appropriately.

There were 300 fans at a Women's Volleyball match? That has to be a world record.
I think the key point was the fact the fans came to the match because of the fight, not for the sport. That's a shame right there. A damn crying shame. It wasn't even BEACH volleyball!

Maybe they should have an event within an event. Buy tickets for the game.....or pay extra for tickets to watch the brawl!
As soon as those gals start playing topless or bottomless, they will really generate some crowds.

I spent a year in Greece while I was in the army. Those people are just plain ingnorant. I was in a vehicle behind another car at a red light. I blew the horn and the idiot driver thought the light must be green and drove into the intersection and got hit by cross traffic. Dummies.

The news provided on this event are poor:
All those guys where hooligans, and they went there JUST AND ONLY to fight each other (remember the film "Fight Club"?). In every European country this is a major problem (remember the Hazel Stadium in Belgium). And those hooligans never entered the voley-arena: The fight happend few miles away, on a meeting-point! In other countries (Britain, Germany, Sweden etc)they arrange meetings even outside city, in fields and forests just to fight! We don't do this in Greece (yet...). I hope that someday the distant planet USA will make contact with the planet Earth. It is amazing how dis-informed are the US citizens! I have to remind you the child (or school) crimes in US. We don't have this in Europe. Answering the friend KYRed I think that he (surelly) have seen much more traffic stupids in US. BUT have he (as an Army-man) any idea how stupid (not mention criminal...) acting have the US army-men around the world when they go to the bars?

that behaviour is true of all armies in all countries hellinos....i agree that it is wrong but you cannot just blame 1 country for that

Nothing new except to be politically correct and not call them what they "REALLY ARE" "THUGS,LOW LIFE TRASH" not only in Greece,but ENGLAND,FRANCE & ITALY
