My Rep. is one of the most conservative republicans.I hope he has as much common sense as the majority of conservatives on these threads when it comes to the benefits hemp could give our country. This bill was voted down in the last congress, this reintroduction may settle the dispute over who is supporting the ban...dems or republicans?

          Vote Hemp!

it grows faster than corn and the whole plant can be used plus it doesnt take as much energy to turn it from plant to fuel as corn does

It yields more energy than corn. Corn prices are going higher forcing the price for chickens, hogs, and cattle to go up.

Hemp has been used for many applications other than smoking for thousands of years. Corn should be used to feed people and animals.

Done. This needs to be passed. There are so many uses for this plant. It is ridiculous that it is now under "prohibition." And we all know how well that worked with alcohol. Hopefully the idiots in Congress and the White House will get the message.

And while we are paying the DEA to eradicate marijuana plants,98% of all the plants they get are wild hemp plants, decendants of hemp grown by farmers during WWII in a program called "Hemp For Victory"

Lets stop these crooks in their tracks, contact your congressman and tell him that we are tired of being ripped off and persecuted by the thugs at the DEA.

looking at the big picture it seems that hemp could greatly reduce our need for foreign oil, could it be that the current admin is really afraid of a drop in the price of oil futures?

heres history re writing itself the very first bill introduced by the king of england on the colonies was as follows any individual who has more than 1 acre of land must plant at least 50% in hemp. it was sent back to england and europe. take a look at the patch on a pair of levis. that pair of jeans the horses are trying to tear apart was made from hemp, thats what levi strauss used first. my only fear is that the pollen from the male hemp plant could end up cross breeding with the high quality weed on the market, making all weed look like the columbian and mexican of the 60s and 70s

Reminds me of when my wife and I were on a beach in Acapulco with our hippie open road camper. Now we are not druggies but were enjoying life within Mexico. A women approached us and asked us if we wanted to but some grass. My wife looked at me and after we said no, she asked why would she want to sell us grass seed in Acapulco. I know you will say we were quite juvenile, but we were truely at a loss for the adage, grass equal marijuana. I still laugh at this episode but this article reincarnates this memory.

I could care less if it works, grow it if it is more energy productive than sugar cane. Brazil will be self reliant with the sugar cane, so if the premise of the article is that hemp is a source to extract us from the arabs monopoly than go for it. If you want to smoke it during harvesting I have no problem, thats your choice. Not my choice or our governments and that is the paradox in our existence. Do you rule your own roost or someone like Bush. I say you prevail.

mntnman444 - Well I would prefer that the THC was included so the harvesters would have a smile on their face while completing back breaking work. Would you not agree?

Smoking the whole harvest and not acquiring a high would be quite ridiculous and abnoxious. Is life not a thing to enjoy???
