Through the capture of and subsequent announcement that it would release 15 British sailors and marines, the Islamic Republic of Iran sent its adversaries a pointed message: Just as Iran will meet confrontation with confrontation, it will respond to what it perceives as flexibility with pragmatism.

    The Brits are a cagey lot. They like the pubs, the crumpets, tea, and grabbin a little bum now and then. A happy bunch. I like the Brits, but Blair is a whack sort of Prime Minister who holds too much company with a tally the likes of Bush & CO$$$.

      I am anxious to hear over the next few days how the Iranians got so many of their British captives to "confess" to trespassing. One might forgive their saying that is they did wander into Iranian waters, it was an honest mistake. It's possible the crew did not have GPS equipment with them and could be made to believe that the Iranians were right. But to stand up and point out positions on a map, to confess the trespassing was deliberate -- what happened to these poor saps to make them do that?

        What we did learn from the brits, is that they are candy asses, that wont fight.
