April 6, 2007, 3:30 p.m.The rat must have been dead already...dont you think?
I mean, how could this guy have caught this rat alive and put it in his mouth, killed it and sat there with it until the right person came along that wouldn't have "gotten rid of the evidence"
The bizarre-ness of it reminds me of the finger in the Wendy's chili (I was one of the gullible ones that stopped eating there)
I worked in an assisted living home....it's bad, really bad.

April 6, 2007, 7:30 p.m.I saw a news expose show like 60 minutes or something where the staff was gobbling up the patient's cheese and going through her purse, etc. in an extended care facility.I also heard stories where the elderly have been lying on the floor for long periods of time after falling out of their beds.

April 6, 2007, 7:34 p.m.Those places must be like a horror movie;mentally ill people like to take off their clothes and poop and urinate all over the place.I have heard stories like that.Strip and then lie naked on the floor.Sounds almost demonic.

April 6, 2007, 7:36 p.m.I am not shocked.Nothing shocks me.When I was told that a patient had been lying on the floor beeping/screaming for a nurse,I told the person to let the nurses handle it.They know what is going on,not you.Butt out for your own liability.

April 6, 2007, 8:37 p.m.My mother was in a nursing home and the neglect that I saw was terrible. Some happen to my mother.
I can't understand why our elerly has to live like this and why we can't find safe places for them to be care for. I also don't understand why there are people joking about this.

April 7, 2007, 4:54 a.m.Maybe the poor ol' guy found the dead rodent, and felt bad that it had died, so then maybe he tried to recussitate it.
Maybe the furry thing had lived in his room long enough for him to consider it a pet, and dear friend...
... that would explain the da** thing in his mouth, but it wouldn't explain the thing bein' in the home.

April 7, 2007, 3:10 p.m.****NEWS FLASH****
According to the nursing home administrator the rat in question was a highly trained "First Responder Rat," who was obviously trying to Resuscitate the man when the unfortunate incident happened. The administrator would not comment if charges would be pressed in the death of the rat.
