April 11, 2007, 12:43 p.m.It is interesting that these young men were falsely accused by the kind of person Don Imus referred to recently and yet there is no outrage from the liberals. The lives of these men have been devasted by a liar, and a racist liar (albeit an African-American racist liar) but none of that seems to matter to the press or to the polticial-correctness Nazis. I guess it is ok to lie about about white males. But then, what is ok for one group is ok for the other. Perhaps we should go back to the "good old bad old days" of racial bigotry since that is what this case was -- plain and simple. Remember all those goofy students at the other college (you know, the mostly African-American one) who held that big solidary show for the stripper? Where are they now? Will they apologize for being wrong? And shouldn't their lying accuser, along with Prosecutor Nifong, spend some time in jail for this travesty of justice?

April 11, 2007, 12:47 p.m.purely a symbol of hypocracy, this should be required reading. These boys are the victims of racism like nothing we have seen in the 21 century, but the basketball team feels like their lives have been ruined by the words. None of them were unjustly accused, put in jail, or lifes ruined. The prosecuter should do time.

April 11, 2007, 1:01 p.m.Where's Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton on this one? Where is the outrage of the African American community? This woman falsely accused these boys of the most heinous crime against women AND made it about race no less. Where are these people on this? Is there going to be a public apology by Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson for going too far? I, for one, am going to get a protest together to get Sharpton taken off of Radio One.

April 11, 2007, 1:07 p.m.There was a case in the 30's known as the Scottsboro Boys - same rape accusations only these guys were black & received harsh punishment - they were innocent - now the guys are white - they might not be going to jail but their punishment is just as harsh in the context of their lives.
They will always be branded by this because of a corrupt DA using this case to get reelected & a lying stripper/****** looking for a payday. All the opportunists got on this from Sharpton down.
Racism just has another color now.

April 11, 2007, 1:39 p.m.DALLAS (AP) - A case of mistaken identity was blamed for a Texas man's conviction in a 1982 rape, and on Monday a judge recommended he be exonerated based on new DNA evidence.

April 11, 2007, 1:39 p.m.James Curtis Giles has spent nearly half of his life - including 10 years in prison and 14 years on the sex offender registry - trying to prove he was not one of three men implicated in the case.

April 11, 2007, 1:40 p.m.A man who pleaded guilty to the gang rape, Stanley Bryant, implicated two other men in the crime: a James Giles and a Michael Brown. DNA evidence linked Brown and Bryant to the crime, Smith and Potkin said. Brown was never tried and died in prison after being convicted of another gang rape.
Police eventually arrested James Curtis Giles, who lived 25 miles away and did not match the description of the attacker given by the rape victim, Potkin said. Giles was about 10 years older and had gold teeth.

April 11, 2007, 1:40 p.m.Giles, who is black, would be the 13th Dallas County man since 2001 exonerated by DNA evidence, the most of any county in the nation. It would be the third exoneration since District Attorney Craig Watkins took office on Jan. 1 pledging to free anyone wrongfully convicted.

April 11, 2007, 1:43 p.m.Ok, world we get it mistakes are made. But these boys were tried by Jessie Jackson and Rev. Sharpton, that they were guilty of rape. I would like to see an appolgie.

April 11, 2007, 1:46 p.m.just because they're not being tried it doesn't mean that they are innocent. i still think more went on. why would this woman want to make false accusations, was she in it for the money? any way you look at it the duke lacrosse players are a group of bullies. i don't doubt something went on. they get their high priced, sharp lawyers and attack the putative victim looking for the smallest discrepancy in her story.
i don't believe they are innocent.

April 11, 2007, 1:54 p.m.It's about time these guys were off the hook. The accusers friend even said she was lying. Why did she do it? Who knows, but she is getting a free ride to school by Jesse Jackassson

April 11, 2007, 1:57 p.m.So tell me . . . do you think Kobe hit it, or did the scank make up the whole story? (I think those Duke boys (and I'm not referring to Bo and Luke) got caught with their hands in the cookie jar, so to speak, and the scank will get paid, as usual.)

April 11, 2007, 2:12 p.m.These boys may be rich but what do we do about the young woman who brought these bogus charges. The families of these boys have had to shell out a good deal of money in this sham. It's not fair that the woman gets nothing but a slap on the wrist for lying.

April 11, 2007, 2:21 p.m.I'm from NC and both my wife and I attended Duke and would love to see Nifong be disbarred, made to pay these guys for putting them thru hell and do some time in prison. He'll see rape up close and personal.....And yeah, where's Jackson and Sharpton on this? I want to see public apologies, and if not, ban them for ever appearing on TV or radio ever again....A*holes....

April 11, 2007, 2:28 p.m.Maybe JJ will come to NC to defend the lacrosse coach that Nifong cost his job. There will probably be a big contingency fee in it for him:)

April 11, 2007, 2:57 p.m.Holy crap. They were called "INNOCENT".
Nifong might have to pay a little back for the defendants' legal fees.
And Duke will probably be willing to give up some of their tobacco money to calm the waters.
