"The View" again discussed Don Imus's recent racist and sexist remarks about the Rutgers women's basketball team. Rosie O'Donnell likewise continued her tirade about Imus' alleged "free speech." In a statement Rosie said the next step is the "thought police" locking everyone up in Guantanamo Bay without a lawyer.

Many people, including Rosie, don't seem to realize that there are exceptions to the freedom of expression, and obscenity IS one of them.

Likewise, Imus may have the right to say what he wants, but that does not mean he has the right to do it on MSNBC's airwaves.

At the worst, Imus should've faced suspension for a certain amount of time. This extreme action is reverting back to 1933 Berlin.

Anyone familiar with Imus knows he is not a racist.

The suspension for making tasteless remarks was plenty.

This hoopla is not a blow against bigotry.

hhmmm, I wonder if she's gonna try and help him get his job back....or....maybe he can join "the view" and they can get a male's perspective on some of the topics.

People do indeed have freedom of speech. However it doesn't mean that there aren't consequences if your boss doesn't agree with you. After all isn't CBS just using thier option of free speech to say we don't want somebody with your opinions working for us. As it so happens several of the shows sponsers also expressed that opinion by cancelling thier sponsership. It seems to me individuals like Rosie feel that they have the right to free speach but if you don't agree with them you don't have the same right to express yourself.
