Duly Consider: What's wrong with "Nappy" hair? »
Posted by: trnscndr 2 years, 8 months agoCOMMENTARY-I love "nappy" hair. It's soft, free and it stands and delivers. As for "Ho's", what is a ho? A woman who enjoys sex with multiple partners? Hmm, if it were a guy wouldn't we call him a stud?

April 13, 2007, 2:46 p.m."Isn't it time we remove the double standard?"
YES
The media also has a double-standard. Other non-black reporters and 'news' show hosts have made disparaging and hate-mongering and racist remarks on the air, but no one has ever fired them or demanded that they be fired.
Good commentary!!

April 13, 2007, 2:50 p.m.An insult is an insult no matter who says it, no matter what person it is directed to. There should be NO double standard. I think the rappers need to think about the kind of message they are portraying about women, no matter what race. Imus is not the first guy to degrade women. Let's gather all the sexists and fire them.

April 13, 2007, 2:54 p.m.It's difficult to even talk about this, one way or the other, without fear someone is going to call you a racist. If you forgive, you're a racist. If you don't, you are a reactionary.

April 13, 2007, 7:42 p.m.Anyway must this society strive to be so politically correct that we have to ignore what certain blacks who take the low road can feel free to spout they're bigotry on others?
I DON'T THINK SO!
I say what's good for the goose is good for the gander.
In other words: "Justice for All!"
BTW - I like this article, and especially the comments above me. I certainly concur.
Thanx!

April 14, 2007, 2:51 a.m.Al Sharpten and Jessie Jackson do not speak for all black people. I think we need some new and better black leaders. I don't agree with what Imus said but I don't think he should have lost his job. I do believe there is racism still in the white communities as well in the black communities I have seen it in action on both sides. Until we admit that racism still exist on all sides we will continue to run into these problems. I don't think anyone black, white, red, yellow, etc. should put any other race, sex, or religion down.

April 14, 2007, 2:54 p.m.Poor guy that he lost his job, but I feel sorrier for the women (of the team) that are receiving hatemail, Its not like they advocated for him to be removed. Also Imus lost his job because corporations began pulling their ads from his air slot. Once that start happening its inevitable for any DJ to be removed. He really should have thought deeper into his comments. As for the double standard thing, that is true there is black racism, however I think people pay less attention to it, because its white racism that built this country and is institutionalized in our society.

April 14, 2007, 5:56 p.m.On one thing we can agree; it is better to know who your enemies are. However, we may not not see the real enemy is the one who tells us we can't instead of we "shouldn't".

April 19, 2007, 11:32 a.m.Let's see... Danny Bonnaduce (who also beat up a transvestite hooker) makes DEATH THREATS to Rosie O'Donnel because she has the guts to call attention to the MAJOR discrepancies on 9/11 and the coverup, and yet what is done about him? Nothing. Try making death threats and see what happens to you.

April 19, 2007, 12:28 p.m.Okay, I've read this bloggers article and here's my spin on it. The problem with speech is where it is clearly negative in its conotation.
What negative conotations could be said about what people that could cause them to look at themeelves in a negative light? I mean how could calling a white guy a "smart ass white boy" negative? It's a far cry from being called a "buck toothed Asisan, black nappy headed "ho" or a redskin.Hell, the word ho is discriminatory itself, in the fact that it is an ebonical way to say wh_re
Imus f'd up because he refered to a specific group of people, whereas rappers use the "ho" to women in general. Now, is that a good thing, no, but if America has been in that much of an up-roar, then why didn't people stop buying there cd's?

April 19, 2007, 12:28 p.m.As a matter of fact, aren't white kids from the burbs a large percentage of those unsavory sales? And where exactly are those disks being played? At the various MLK parties that were exposed this past January i bet.
