Don't forget that teenagers still have brains that aren't totally developed (hence the fearlessness/stupidity) which makes them drive like nuts.

Good article, and definitely sound advice, although one thing about driving schools, check them out before hand. My experience with the one offered in school through Drivers Ed, was a waste of money! The only purpose I saw with that school, was to get the kids the license, they neglected parking, courtesy and accident avoiding. Our Ins also didn't give a discount for the driving school or Drivers Ed training.

          Hello:

This is a very excellent article which can save lives. A lot of drivers have no consideration for pedestrians and some have the habit of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and no matter how many times their drivers' licenses were suspended or they are jailed, they just can't kick their bad destructive driving habits.

Thousands of lives are lost every year in America who were victims of these psycho drivers.

Most of them should not be on the road driving because their destructive driving habits pose a great risk to the society.

These people should be encouraged to use mass transit systems: buses and trains or car pools.

You think so there mscsrrr.com . You know I drove for years both as a regular driver and as a Driver [truck driver] and have witnessed what I pretty much think seen it all . People are driven [ no pun intended , but please do laugh ] to certain actions from repeated experiences . Conditioning , like Pavlovs' dog . Why do you think comedians say to put on your right turn signal and then turn left ? Because you'll never get in the lane you want to . There are so many little games being played out on the road , which if taken to the next level become "Road Rage " . Woooo , road rage . Well if you use you signal and communicate instead of zoning and then flipping someone off , maybe the next level doesn't have to be . There's too much to be said on this , here . But communication and some road courtesy go a long way as well as awareness of your surroundings . Remember , Drive Like Hell , You'll Get There Anyway .

What I don't understand is why people don't signal their lane changes on the highways. Don't you think it's kind of important to let other drivers know what you are going to do at 70 mph? But, of course, when they want to exit the highway they will move into the exit lane (without signaling) and THEN they activate the turn signal notifying others that they are exiting the highway. Well I kinda figured THAT one out... How about letting me know what you are going to do when you are ON the highway?!?!

Failure to use turn signals is such a pet peeve....aarrgghhh!!! Racing to go around someone, then get back in their lane and stop in front of them to turn...oh, and last but not least....people who drive like a bat out of hades and act like their destination place will not be there. DELIBERATELY running red lights. Why doesn't anyone want to slow down??

                Oops....gotta go, I'm running late.......

I think the article forgot one very important rule:

                  Wear your seat belt!

I hate seeing a car full of teens where none of them are buckled up.

How abou this. Quit buying your teens SUV's. Actually, quit buying SUV's all together. I work in insurance and the inexperience of these teens and SUV's leads to bad news. With a small suv, the chances of that SUV killing another driver are multiplied by 5, for a medium, by 10 and 13 for the big ones. Plus the driver of a SUV is twice as likely to be killed than in a regular vehicle. No one has an excuse for driving an SUV.

                      Don't forget,

                      * The Autobahn is in Germany not Houston, Texas!

                      * Just because there is 4 inches more room than your car is long to 'slide' between traffic as you weave in and out of traffic doesn't mean you have any right to go for it.

                      * You have the right to drive in a way to endanger yourself; you don't have the right to endanger others as you carelessly put yourself in danger.

                      * Please throw your trash in your car and clean up when you get home! I hate seeing trash along the roadside.

                      * Putting on makeup, while on the cell phone and looking at a late report is just wrong!

                      * PSSSTTTTT!!!1 You aren't invisible when taking a sip from your 'small' paper bag 'cloaked' beer.

                      * Nor are you invisible as you try to light your roach again and again! Most people don't 'pass' normal cigarettes back and forth either. LOL

                      *

I drive about 35,000 miles per year and the number one type of vehicle I see involved in accidents is the large SUV's. More often than not, they are upside down.

Here is how it works. Very heavy vehicle with a high center of gravity. Inexperienced driver at the wheel travelling too fast for conditions, thinks he/she is still in the Honda Accord they just traded in on their Suburban.

Comes up too fast on slow traffic, hits the brakes and cocks the steering wheel to one side.

Whammo, a$$ over tea kettle and there you have it.
