    from the article;

    The last few years have seen economic gains for the wealthiest Americans, at least in part resulting from tax cuts and investment gains, and many Americans are living well - buying large homes, expensive cars and luxury products. But has any of this wealth trickled down to the middle class?

    59% of those polled said No.

      Lou Dobbs has been talking about the "Middle Class Squeeze" for years. Copyright infringement :-)

      Seriously though, this is all true. The people who get any benefits from the economic expansion right now, all are in the rich, or in the upper part of the upper middle class.

      Even those who are doing relatively well have the sword of layoffs constantly dangling above them.

        Most people I know of are barely keeping their heads above water, including moi. Who the heck can afford the insane UNRELENTING gas prices, inflation in the form of food prices, heating prices, etc, now postage is going up AGAIN, awful taxes that won't go down ever, etc. I dread the upcoming property taxes and car insurance. Record home foreclosures too. Thank God for Bush, he sure did TURN THE COUNTRY around. Now we're all going south.

            How is this news? I thought everyone already knew this? The middle class gives their money to the upper class business owners and manufacturers to buy basic everyday goods. The middle class is then taxed and their tax money is given to those who won't work to pay for their healthcare, foodstamps, and HUD homes. The middle class carries the tax burden and gets nothing from the government for it. This is why I am against social welfare programs unless they are UNIVERSALLY applied to EVERYONE. Of course, then the problem becomes that if everyone is equal everyone is poor. TO help everyone tax rates will have to be through the rough and socialized healthcare is simply not of good quality.

            Bottom line: stop government handouts. Let us keep our tax dollars.
