Everything the dems said was wrong has been changed, they said Rumsfeld had to go, he did, they said we didn't have enuf troops, we sent more, they said we needed different generals, we got them....then suddenly it is time to fold up the tents, and go home.....I think a win would look bad for them and they surely wouldn't want that, so it is time to leave.

NYC will turn off all it's lights and the police will stay home of June 6. I'm sure everything will be just peachy.

        Courage!

like it or not the troops are in the middle of this mess. a mess created by Bush & Cheney.

it's not the democrats demands that are unreasonable, it is the president's war that is unreasonable.

"That's what we're supposed to do -- we're supposed to talk out our differences," Bush said. "I'm looking forward to the meeting. I hope the Democratic leadership will drop its unreasonable demand for a precipitous withdrawal." A meeting to talk about differences does no good without an open mind. Bush is playing into Osama's hand, he knows we can't be beat by so called war...his goal is to have us keep dumping money down this black hole until we have no more money or resources. As long as we stay over there, we will have no peace.

Bush is right, the troops shouldn't be caught in the middle of this. Which is exactly why the democrats are trying to bring them home. What Bush clearly wants is funding for the defense companies he already has invested in. On another note:

Just out of curiousity- imagine if your Bush, sr. On one hand you're so proud your son has become president of the most powerful nation in the world. On the other hand, your son is THE worst president in history and a complete tool. This is why I am never having kids.

How Many of our kids have to die before we get this idiot out of office. Ohh by the way, it is time to fold up the tents. I love it when people like you A.K.A. war mongers NOT in the military try tell tell the rest of us how great we are to be in this war. Why don't you get over there and fight??? It's a lot easier to talk about it isn't it?? We got the guy that made his daddy mad, now lets get out!! Oh and If you Really gotta have someone to kill, how about the guy we were looking for (Bin Laden) before GW decided to go after the guy daddy couldn't get. It amazes me that nobody wonders how we couldn't have caught him by now. Of course if the Bush family & Bin Laden family were not in business ventures together, he would have been found within a month.

But hey lets stay in Vietnam, Iraq , whatever you wanna call this war. Not much difference is there???

Constructive criticism is a good thing. Instead, the relentless attacks upon the Prez seem only waged for political gain. There is no wise substance to the pull out mentality for the conflict in Iraq. Instead, it is harming our troops & those of the coalition forces & emboldening the enemies of freedom.

If the House & Senate would cooperate in seeking solutions with the Prez, the conflict would end much sooner. -Rev. S

The Bush strategy is working so well that the Iraqi government is disintegrating as we speak. Sure lets send more and more troops because that is the answer "Stay and Die and Die". However Patton, Lee, and Alexander all retreated in the face of an uncontrollable disaster. Live to the fight another day was their motto. The trouble is Bush will never admit he's made a mistake and he keeps doing what clearly isn't working. The Iraqi people will never stand up for themselves if we are there to do everything for them. Four years of incompetence and death and the only thing being offered as a solution is more of the same? Forgive me if I object.

The President wants his money with no strings attached. He has had 4 years and how many thousands of dollars that have been misspent to get this war right. It's about time there where some strings attached. He doesn't deserve a blank check anymore.

All we ever hear from this admistration is what we can't do. Bush has never publicly defined how we are going to win this war. He must commit to a plan and follow it through. His first we'll try this and then we'll try that approach is not working and makes the U.S. look like fools and only furthers the impression that he has alterior motives. If his motivation for staying in Iraq is something other than finalizing this war then he should state them.

"They will not leave the troops in the field without the resources they need," Cheney said of the Democrats.

So then if the Democrats curtail funding then Cheney will be consistent and withdraw the troops. After all he cannot criticize the Democrats for leaving them without resources and then do the same himself.

Leaving them without resources can occur two ways: one is from those who withdraw resources or the other is from those who refuse to withdraw troops were resources are not provided.

I think its amazing that this all started out about "making America safe" and now we are sending over our national guard and cutting funds for homeland security. Cuz that makes sense.

Does anyone actually understand how we went from an attack by a handful of SAUDI extremists to full on WAR and nation building in IRAQ? It's absurd. Talk about escalation and misplaced aggression.

The Democratic party was handed a mandate in the election. The American people want this "war" to end, most importantly, to save the lives of our children who are fighting it. It is also draining an already failing economy. If the Democrats do not move this forward on this, they will lose the next election.

Why is it illogical for the Congress to admit and state that they and the American public were drawn into this war in error by this Administration. That we do not wish to remain inside this conflict or inside Iraq any longer than we must. And we will remove our forces next year. What ever come next will happen but removing our forces are in the interest of everyone. From that point events will deal with when we go and everyone but al Qaeda should have an interest in stopping the conflict and give us an orderly retreat from our error.
