Stewart, Colbert Viewers Better Informed Than Fox News Viewers »

Posted by: Aidenag 2 years, 2 months ago

A new survey from Pew Research judged the levels of knowledgeability (correct answers) among those surveyed and found that those who scored the highest were regular watchers of The Daily Show and Colbert Report. Virtually bringing up the rear were regular watchers of Fox News. Only 1 in 3 could answer 2 out of 3 questions correctly.

LOL, but the Fox viewers are more "fair and balanced"...

      ...not.

I took the quiz. I really can't believe that there are people out there who don't know the answers to these questions.

The mainstream media still refers to Matt Drudge for their leads. No wonder some (very) smart comedians are better sources of news.

Funny bit. About the whole "FoxNews says exactly the opposite" approach like, "liberals hate freedom," while neo-cons dismantle the Bill of Rights kind of thing.

(It works for almost anything political FoxNews was saying for a long time...)

Anyway, a few weeks ago they quipped, "FoxNews- Fair Balanced, and Unafraid."

          They are scared s***less.

I do not care where I get info from but I would prefer Fox News to other forms of press on the TV. But I do not limit myself to only Fox News either! So tainted surveys and ramdom research can be spun for one side or other mean nothing to me either! I also have watched those shows too! If you are a news buff you would not limit your sources even if they lean one or other! Because news can be spun it sway you opinion on subjects and it is done everyday!

It's sad that this country is so out of touch with what is going on, not only nationally, but globally. What was the average? 50 percent? I missed one question, and felt like a moron for missing it. I can't imagine if I got 50 percent. How can such uninformed people make an intelligent decision about who or what to vote for when they aren't paying attention anyway?

i also expect these viewers also scored higher in the smug arrogance category--mommmy mommy look at me im so smart...i can tie my shoes--just another poll for the dinosaur media to create the data that they want so they can point to it and call it real news--

Fox News reminds me of a cult we have in Iowa, you may heard of them M.I.U. actually since the law suits now known as M.U.M.=Maharishi University Of Management- this is a college (cult) that moved here in the 70's. Anyway the people all SEEM intelligent, they have high IQ's, very environmental, eating health, peace, love, ect. They even have their own Political party, The Natural Law Party. But they think they can Meditate to the point that they can actually FLY,not with a plane, with their mind. Their leader has his own show, stretching the truth to it's limit with his own agenda, and they take it as the gospel! I don't hate these folks them seem ok, they don't bother anybody, but the difference is nobody here takes them seriously, this is what scares me about fox news. People actually think they report the real news! un-biased?? I fear we are looking at horrible future with this propaganda network trying to brainwash otherwise intelligent people to believe out right lies!

The only people I know that watch there shows are liberal democrats that smoke pot. I think the pollers at pew are smoking something stronger.

Colbert has a comedic setting but mostly I find it quite mundane. Now if would want to compare it with fox thats quite another matter.

The cartoon channel would outperform Fox news so this poll does not benefit Colbert in the slightest.

I hope taxpayers dollars did not go into this survey.

I've read the comments (1-1/2 pages up to here). Sounds like a love fest between a bunch of very arrogant and nasty liberals patting each other on the back and trying to out-do the other in their language of hate and put downs against conservatives, Republicans or Fox news watchers. I have one for you: Looks like the cons haven't come home from work yet or are doing something useful. (I am frittering away time here because I'm retired). I personally watch CNN more than anything because Glen Beck is on CNN and he's actually INTERESTING!! WATCH HIM AND GET STIMULATED!! Then you can get worked up about his --- (fill in the blanks). I couldn't get my computer to bring up the test. But why take it? I'm con so I will fail it by definition. I fail the lib too test because I don't even know who Colbert and Stewart are. Perhaps they are good, I don't know. I know that straight news is only on Fox for 5 or 10 minutes per hour as opposed to CNN headline news which is supposed to be 24 hour news?

Comes as no surprise - naturally we are more aware, we question. Thinking people, opposed to the Bush sheep, actually, think, question, research. Fox watchers, swollow it whole, believe what they are being told no matter what. Fools.

Glen Beck is a conservative nationalistic war hawk to me so I watch him to get a reality check on the warmongers.

But you keep watching all those you have comparisons with since it will only enlighten your viewpoint. Myself, I watch all to have a perspective. Conservatives cannot stand perspective since they are all knowing and all seeing.

O'Reilly the NO SPIN Zone is all SPIN. Limbaugh, I watch him to catch him popping pills, Swaggert is probably your spiritual leader but please if you are of the masculine persussion don't get to close or you will, oink. Now Newt is probably your true idol but theres a problem, keep your wife away from that man or you will be a bachelor. Could go on and on but I will leave you with the latest conservative episode, Paul Wolfowitz made sure his sweetheart at the world bank receives a $197,000.00 annual salary for putting a smile on his face. Yeah, conservatives are pios, NOT, NOT, NOT, NOT.

I have my own poll question. Given that Iran's aim is to develop nuclear offensive weapons, that Iran recently went into international waters and captured British sailors, that they have gone into Iraq and confronted American troops and supply weapons, money to terrorists, should the US bomb all of Iran's nuclear and military facilities they can find? I will give the correct answer later. (I am the pollster and define what is correct). Keep in mind this is a little tricky and requires some real thought.
