Imagine if you will foreign troops invade your house in the middle of the night point guns at your entire family, take the men away in handcuffs with a sack over their head and take them away ( don't forget an occasional rape and robbery)....what would you do? Iraq was not broken until right-wing conservative idiots broke it.

When I look at those news on Iraq, I just think of how many times americans got fooled in Middle East in general. The Iraqis are in middle of civil war, and americans getting fooled and pouring billions of dollars into it. That is just blows my mind. All everyone want from america is the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. That is it. So far, we are playing by their(radical islamists) original plan.

The fatal bombings continue, but Bush wants to allocate more money and American lives to the "surge". For the life of me I'm trying to understand why, and I can't figure out why we should allocate more of either. Bring the troops home, and since we failed to install a stabilized government, let the sects get on with their civil war. We've failed miserably and now need to beef up our intelligence and protect our borders.

These types of events make me believe we SHOULD stay in Iraq, and it also makes me wish we would leave. These attacks are obviously not aimed at American troops and I have no doubt in my mind that there would be events like this ten times a day if we were to leave... However, I have not seen as much appreciation on the part of the Iraqi's to help settle this violence. This war is obviously not ours anymore, it is a divided country and we are TRYING to mediate. If we had a little help from other nations, nations that sit back a say "its not our fight", well things would probably be moving forward. I would hate to leave and let a civil war swell. 90% of Iraqi is getting by just fine. Maybe its Baghdad we need to partition. Its too big of a city for such a radical diverse culture, and its were all of this violence is concentrated. It would be a radical move to split a city in two, but these are quite radical people that don't seem to like living with each other.

I "sunk" this story, and as always it's nothing personal.

However, what is wrong with beautiful stories about how many lives were born today? Instead of how many were killed?

Why does everyone always focus on the negative???

Switch gears to enter a brand new beautiful day.

If we collectively shift the energy of our world from bad to good... well, you do the math. Amazing things will start to happen.

These and other bombings that continue have absolutely nothing to do wit the US presence and our continued presence will not change their level in the least.

As so often said this is a religious civil war between shia and sunni. Since the capital is where there is the most mixing and contact between these sects that is where the most killing will occur.

Nothing we do will either encourage or discourage a shia from bombing sunnis or a sunni from bombing shia. That is why not mater what we do the continues and continues to grow.

If we get out it will continue as said so often, but at least our troops will not be in the cross fire between these two factions.

The sad thing is that even if the Iraqis got a little peace and quiet for a period of time, something like this would make things feel like there was no progress at all.

It's only a matter of time before the VT type of gunmen start using bombs. The next mass murder will be forced to choose a weapon more lethal than a gun to by-pass the 33 victim number. Society is in trouble... I only hope that the new media stop the repeat, repeat, repeat of the killings everywhere so the misfits don't get more ideas.

Those in the radical Muslim religion that kill their own people have no hope for survival and their God of Allah will surly not be there when they reach their promised land.

I am so sick of this. USA will never be able to wage a succesfull war due to the politics involved. If politicians would keep away and let the military do their job. This probably would have been over sometime ago. As it is, how do you defeat an enemy who does not value life? You can not talk to them, these people are nuts. It is a shame we can't nuke them and be done with it.

Why is it that the media always reports double numbers in their tally's? At least 33 dead... 66 dead... 22 injured... Is this some kind of occult message or subliminal thing coming from the powers that be? After all, we all know who controls the media. Is the time drawing near?

only reason WW2 was able to be fought and won with the support of the people was because the only communications technology available during that era was the radio.>>>>

Not true. WW2 was 'no choice' and Americans knew that. No comparison between that and this.

But Senator McCain and the White House have assured us the "surge" is working!!

I'm left to ponder whether the death toll would have been as high this week if we hadn't inserted more troops.

It doesn't look to me like this "new strategy" is any better than the others that have failed.

Bush made a geo-political blunder of historic proportions and nothing he can do but get us back to a defensible posture is going to help.

I think you, Star Poet sunk the story since you prefer ignorance than knowing. This war is abysmal and I posted numerous times that the surge will never work. Yes, there would be a lull in the beginning of the surge until new tactics were developed by the insurgents.

Many posters on this blog would themselves be insurgents if a foreign aggressor attacked and occupied America. I fail to grasp the conservative viewpoint and sanity in promoting this war of aggression since they have no rational explanation for it. Bush and Cheney I understand, they are the warmongering, money grubbing individuals that they are but do we have most conservatives this impractical?
