182 Die In Baghdad »

Posted by: MyWayOnNow 2 years, 7 months ago

Four bombings in Baghdad that killed at least 182 Shiites yesterday provided a tragic backdrop to a meeting with President Bush and Democratic leaders over funding for his troop surge. In all, 233 people were killed or found dead yesterday across Iraq, second only to the 281 toll on Nov.23 last year.

"People have strong opinions around the table ... I've got my own opinion," Bush said. "The whole objective is to figure out how best to get our troops funded, get the money they need to do the job that I've asked them to do."

Personally I do not like "Mr. President" but we are in this "sh**" together and let supports our troops and our president, because if we abandon Iraq and Afghanistan we will need another source of energy for our "hungry" lifestyles... Here is not dem. or rep. any more.

"Please Mr. President, work out some diplomatic deal."

The problem is that neo-cons do not believe in diplomacy. We don't talk to our so-called enemies. We put up walls and close them out. This results in the rhetoric wars that lead to real wars.

There is no "job" the troops can do that will fix this mess. That is a total misnomer. The best we can hope for is temporary stability and then either we maintain a large permanent presence (as the neocons desire) to prevent future sectarian violence (which we can't stop now with 150,000 troops), or we pull out (what the rest of us and the Iraqis eventually desire). It is up to the Iraqi people to fix their country. We are not babysitters, are we?

Always remember that GW Bush is not a neocon. He has no foreign policy agenda. Never created one. Has no writings or real thoughts on the subject. He is just being led around by the nose by Cheney and his goons. Hardly the "decider" he claims to be.

How can anybody say they support the troops when they want the troops to be in harms way and get killed? If you really support the troops, then get them out of Iraq. Bring them back home so that they can defend our borders. The troops are not going to be able to change those insane people. They are brainwashed into believing in their God and that will never change.

Since the surge began, we've seen the deadliest single bombing take place as well as the deadliest day overall since the war began.

Bush keeps trying to convince us that if we leave, chaos will take over and there will be massive killing in the streets.

well guess what? those things are already happening, in the present tense.

                  we have to wake up.

Bush has lost control in Iraq.

Saddam was an enemy of bin laden. All of the Arab countries that are allies of the U.S. are monarchies or strong men, they are ruthless rulers of their perspective populations. Saddam should have been cajoled into being a partner against bin laden and his network. There's a V-Tech Univ day every day in Iraq.

Bush ******-up Iraq for intel that he and his henchmen cherry-picked and then presented to the world. Iraq is lost because the U.S. invaded it put one sect out of power and another one in. The civil war was kept in check by saddam, he was no saint to be sure, but he only killed iraquis when they threatened his power( bush does the same).

33 people die, we seemed outraged. 182 Iraquis died, we seem divided.

Anyone knows the total of iraqui deaths since the war started?

A word to the wise: What started out as a lie can never end victoriously. If Bush truly believes there is God, then he already knows that the blood of the innocent does not go unnheard. Bush is responsible, because he made this decision to go to war, therefore any result will reflect directly on him.

On what to do now, we have no choice but to be sitting ducks because we screwed up. Staying or leaving both options will bring more deaths. The best thing to do is getting the iraquis involve, and all of it's neighbors, and our allies, not to continue the war, but for security purposes. We have no choice now, we must talk to everyone involve, we have already exhausted all of the other options, this is not about winning the war(none of our goals beside the oil has been achieved), but about saving the innocent lives.

Been posting on here for awhile under different names, and I just realized something somewhat disheartening.

The same arguments have been going on on here for the duration.

I coulda just saved my answers and posts in word pad and just copy-n-paste.

This tells me that the situation in Iraq doesn't seem to be changing anymore than folks opinions on here.

so why should I think continued US military presence in Iraq will change anything either.

one thing I HAVE noticed is how many of the con posters have jumped ship and fled for friendlier pastures.

There is one fellow on the first page I won't mention by name, who've I've corrected at least four times when he says that the 1993 WTC bombing was done by Al Qaeda when there was 'no conclusive evidence of Al Qaeda involvement' according to US authorities, and the culprits were tried and convicted.

I am looking forward to the 5th,6th,7th...

Do you really buy into GWB's "they hate us for our freedom" tagline? becasue that's EXACTLY what it was - consumer advertising. It has NOTHING to do with the reasons behind the violence. And the violence in Iraq has little to nothing to do with the 911 atrocities against the US. Read some books instead of listening to FOX, then tell us your opinion.
