and I'm sure that this is not the only non-profit organization that is hurting from rising gas prices. It's too bad, Meals on Wheels is such a good service as it helps others to continue to live indenpendently.

It is a shame that the ones who are trying to help the needy are the ones that are truly hit hard. When you have to distribute food to food kitchens and homeless shelters every day or two it really cuts into the donations that are given to carry these organizations on. Much is done on a volunteer basis but they have to fuel the trucks that carry supplies to locations all over the states. I surely would like to see some program that would help these organizations. Maybe there is a program that assist the organizations that Im not familiar with, but, I do know they dont assist any volunteers that I am familiar with. I do hope that cost will not stop this needy program

Remember during the last election cycle how the Democrats PROMISED to do something about high gas prices? Now that they're in charge what are they doing? NOTHING! They're a bunch of liars!

I don't think they should have to pay for gas! But why would the gov't give them a break?? You know, it's not like they are a great organization or anything that deserves a little help!!

                  What a shame!!

Our country has been going down the drain for the last 6 years and this makes me think that we are almost at the bottom. Truly shameful.

Here in Texas most of the meals on wheels are delivered by volunteers who spend their own gas money and take time off from their jobs to deliver the meals to Seniors, shutin's, disabled and handicap people. Without help from the government.

Hopefully the Salvation Army and some of the churches will be able to help with the meals on wheels.
