Posted by: ind06 2 years, 7 months agoTo paraphrase indeedy's comments on the V.A. site: I like to think there's no actual context for this. Just some guys who like to watch things go boom.

April 23, 2007, 3:55 a.m.This is a 1/10 kiloton explosion. The Hiroshima bomb was 20KT, or 200 times stronger. Your average H-Bomb today would be at least 2,000 times stronger.
Still, explosions are cool. :)

April 23, 2007, 4:30 a.m.Originally, they were going to feature my dad's a##. But my Pop couldn't afford to pay for the carbon offsets, so they had to go with the second best choice.
Not quite as spectacular, but no maggots were gagged in the making of this video.

April 23, 2007, 9:55 a.m.Ohhh yeah! TOTALLY COOL!
I was a combat engineer... loved when we got to play with explosives! Nothing like watching something go all to pieces in front of your eyes... the flash and smoke... ground shake... concussion... My favorite shot was a "log crib" obstacle, when a large log went sailing through the air like a matchstick!
There are NO personal problems that cannot be handled with the proper application of high explosive! }:>
Thanks for the link Ind!

April 23, 2007, 10:24 a.m.Great video. As a kid I was president of the amateur rocket club and made small bombs to "test" new rocket fuels. Still love a good explosion and this one was a doozy.

April 23, 2007, 12:10 p.m.Couldn't really do justice with a video. I've seen 1 ton bombs go off at sea when i was in the Navy. It's awesome! I can't even imagine what a 100 ton would be like. I know this, I would want to be very, very far away!

April 23, 2007, 12:49 p.m.Chances are VERY good that a 100 ton would trigger a tsunami.
At least that's my theory.

April 23, 2007, 1:21 p.m.Looks like the explosives were placed in two "piles" a bit apart to create the spiffy concussive effect when the blast waves met in the middle. Nicely done. I'd have liked some idea of just how far away the camera was. I suppose it could be calculated out, but I'm too lazy...

April 23, 2007, 1:28 p.m.Ok, that was cool, but honestly must be a "guy" thing? Where's the satisfaction? I mean if I could blow something up, anything up, I'd want a BAAAAAZOOOOOKA! bazooka, yes that's right, I even like the sound of it...bazooka! Ya know Bazooka is the best for bubble blowing too!

April 23, 2007, 3:57 p.m.It was a cool boom ind, yet I still like the boom that Jamie and Adam got on Mythbusters when they blew up the Cement Mixer Truck.
