Hunters in Russia's Far East have shot and killed one of the last seven surviving female Amur leopards living in the wild, WWF said on Monday, driving the species even closer to extinction.

At least 100 are needed to guarantee the species' survival which depends upon female leopards breeding. There are more male leopards in the wild than female because cats tend to breed males when under stress, WWF said.
"Leopard murder can only be provoked by cowardice or stupidity, in this case most likely by both,"

sickening...and what's even more sad, is that it's not going to stop...it'll keep happening no matter what is done to protect these animals.

You should live in Alaska, now the game management are letting hunters hunt, sows and cubs so they can have a bigger moose harvest up here..They put a bounty on Wolves and found out that that was no legal so now they are trying to thank of other ways to get rid of them altho, the Voters dont want that....we have voted 3 times to say no to the hunting of wolves.... seems like anything to keep the hunters happy!! soon we will have no wildlife left except what is in the zoos.

I hold those bastards in utter contempt, too bad Russia's government is broke because IMO poachers should face the business end of an MI-24

Watch the VS channel in the morning and you can see hunters laugh with glee at they mortaly wound an animal and watch it hop around dying. And then laugh some more.
Up against sniper rifles, these animals don't stand a chance.
Also they ALWAYS kill the biggest buck. The one God chose to lead the herd. The one who knows how to get the herd across the highway safely to get water. They always kill the one that protects and leads the herd to feeding grounds and then say "they can't find food. Now we gotta kill them.""Since we already killed all the natural predators."
