Taking Lumps at the Pump »
Posted by: STONERS 2 years, 6 months agoAlongside crocuses and baseball, there's a new harbinger of spring: the gasoline price run-up. After 11 consecutive weeks of price increases, the government last week said U.S. motorists were paying $2.88 a gallon, up 27 cents in just three weeks and 33 percent since late January. Americans are no longer waiting until summer to hit the road.

STONERS
April 23, 2007, 12:29 p.m."For years, the typical summer driving season was considered to occur between the Memorial Day and Labor Day holidays," the agency said in a recent analysis. "While this characterization still holds, in recent years demand patterns have shifted somewhat to include more robust levels of gasoline demand earlier in the season with a presummer peak in gasoline prices."
But this is a spring price peak with a vengeance. Even with the new average price nearly 10 cents a gallon higher than a year ago, weekly U.S. motor fuel demand reached a new record high for April. Meanwhile, supplies were even tighter than they would have been with the usual slowdown in gasoline production as refiners switch to making fuels that meet special environmental requirements for summer.

April 24, 2007, 4:10 a.m.Ho Hum. Business as usual. The Saudi Arabian cartel, Big Oil, Bush Family cronies following the game plan to the letter.... and we'll be fed the same bull crap about supply and demand driving up prices. Bend over, grease it up, and be thankful that King George doesn't call his pal Bandar and ask for $80 per barrel oil by June. The Saudi perpetrators of the 9/11 murders, "our friends" just keep stealing that oil from Iraq and re-selling it to us at whatever price they decide to set. Ah yes, Republicanism at its best given to us anally by the Bush regime is truly a beautiful thing to behold. 75% of Americans still believe that the 9/11 hijackers were from Iraq and that's why we need to stay there. Funny things happen when 100% of American media is owned by 3 people......all avid Bush Republicans. The nightmare continues....and I promise you that this corrupt administration is saving the best for the last two years. "You ain't seen nothin' yet!"

April 24, 2007, 12:11 p.m.A day is coming, not too far away, when $3/gallon gas will seem like an incredible deal.
Look, the fact is that we (in the US) have been spoiled by cheap gas forever. All over the world (except in countries floating on oil) gas costs nearly twice what we pay for it here in the states. Three bucks a gallon? Thats a total deal.
How many miles per gallon do you get in your vehicle? Would you be willing to walk those miles for three bucks? Think you can find a taxi to take you that far for $3? Are you ready for public transportation? Better be...
I hope gas goes to $10/gallon. It would be the absolute best thing to happen to alternative fuel technology.

April 24, 2007, 12:16 p.m.Buy oil company stock. 200 shares of COP will just about return your annual gas bill in dividends.
Also, check out FRO for dividend returns. This company owns the tankers that move it around the world.
