Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) attacked Congress' war funding bill today, claiming it was "the first time I know of ... that a country just announces that it's walking off the battlefield." Kyl didn't mention that on 2 occasions during the Clinton admin he voted in favor of setting a specific date for US troops to "walk off the battlefield"

Jon Kyl needs to see a psychiatrist about his "political amnesia". These politicians wonder why they're being labeled as hypocrites?

I hate to break it to you, aniokly, but our invasion of Iraq was not approved by the UN Security Council.

The UN Charter outlines two grounds on which you can lawfully engage in armed conflict - one is article 42 of the charter which says that you act together with other states once that action has been explicitly authorized by the United Nations Security Council. That didn't happen in the case of Iraq.

The other provision is article 51 of the UN Charter, which is about self defense. That didn't apply in the case of Iraq either.

As for congressional 'approval' - the 2002 vote was based on MANIPULATED intelligence that the white house let Congress see. The ACTUAL intelligence was not revealed until 2 years later, which proved that there was no justification for the invasion.
