April 29, 2007, 3:31 a.m.Scotty, I have loved and admired you since I was a little girl. You have been a part of my life for so long that I feel you are a friend or a family member. It is hard to let you go.
Gordo, you were one of the people who inspired me to almost become an astronaut. I didn't make it, but thanks.
God speed to both of you and rest in peace.

April 29, 2007, 6:49 a.m.I wonder what Kirk [ william Shatner ] and Spock [ Leonard Nimoy] had to say about this . You'd think they'd have been there too . I think Mr. Scott has all the power he needs by the love that is brought forth here . Aye .

April 29, 2007, 12:14 p.m.I think this is a fitting way to end the story of a man who inspired so many dreamers. I remember growing up with Kirk, Spock, Bones, Sulu, Checkov, Uhura, Scotty and more. The thing is these people who were just actors, did more than just act for their time. THey existed in a time of intolerance and division by class, race, and gender. They did a series that taught a generation more than just to reach for the stars, it taught them to reach for each other wether you be male, female, black, white, green, furry or with 2 bellybuttons.
For those not familiar with the old Star Trek, watch it. It dealt with VERY real issues discretely. It not only had a woman but a BLACK WOMAN in the cast which was unheard of for its time. Actors like James Doohan portrayed the best and worst of us in Roddenberrys vision. They portrayed hatred for Klingons as a reflection of racism, but when confronted face to face with them found them not different much from them and great drinking partners.
