Are You There, God? It's Me, [Christopher] Hitchens. »

Has anyone in the Bush administration confided in you about being an atheist? I know something which is known to few but is not a secret. Karl Rove is not a believer, and he doesn't shout it from the rooftops, but when asked, he answers quite honestly. I think the way he puts it is, "I'm not fortunate enough to be a person of faith."

I have always liked his rhetoric and his opinionated viewpoint. He is a hawk, regardless of what he says and thinks. In the end its refreshing to have a person opine his true feelings without the thought of embarassment or retribution.

He's atheist for one abiding reason, the religious in the world, especially America, are truely hypocrites and turn off any who desire to belive. The present religous are so sinful, liars, and caught with their pants down so often the word religion is enough to turn one off. Look at the righteous Bush administration, best analogy for hypocrisy I can think off. Go to church this Sunday and have your weekly sins erased, thats the bottom line for the evil in the world.

I know god loves you for bowing down and idolizing an unknown. Take away the thought of heaven and would you still love and adore your god, who you know not?

Even Lucifer knows that there is a Creator. Maybe Karl Rove does not have very much to look forward to in this life. But Karl Rove there is aways tomorrow to look forward to. Have a goooood life sir.

Most people in politics are hypocrites when it comes to religion. The neocons more than most (although the Democrats have plenty too). At least Rove is honest on this subject. He is saying what most people in the Bush Administration just think. The last Christian President we have had was Carter or at least the last one who acted Christian.

The last GOOD man to be President was Carter - religion aside. At least this person is honest about his lack of faith in a belief system - that is his right. It is not religion we need in the White House - we need honesty!

                There's an old saying -

" there are no atheists in foxholes" - so how come not one of Bush's cronies have been in one - seeing the great Christians they profess to be?

Look. The Bush administration only has used evangelicals. Most Republicans in power couldn't care less about abortion, gay rights, etc. But they need the evangelical's vote.

A lot of libs I know have been all worried about the evangelicals taking over. They need not have worried. Bush and his friends couldn't care a rat's a__ about the evangelicals.

Doesn't matter Libs, he loves us all. He loved you back when you were a sinner. :) Oh course you still are, like all of us and will be until the day you die. Your carnal instincts will always be with you..saved or not.

Sigh... I usually don't like talking about religion Libs, being an atheist myself, but you need to think a little more about what you are saying. We live in the 21st century, and in many countries including USA, the 3 main influences on the general behavior are these in this order of importance:

                      -Laws

                      -Rights

                      -Religion.

Besides, I have read the bible, almost the whole thing and not ever does it say that god hates non-christians. I mean: God is a creature of GOOD. Hate is not a very good thing...

Which would once again make the Republican Christians the most hypocritical people in the history of religion.

Alright I'll end this here before I get flamed by all the republicans here.

                        Christopher Hitchins,

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

                        For it is written:

"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,

And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent."

Where is the wise? Where is the Scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

For Jews requested a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

                        1 Corinthians 18 - 25.

                          Christopher Hitchins,

If you knew the Bible intimately, then the above message would speak to you......The word of God is the TRUTH, and clearly it speaks even of you, even if you will not acknowledge it.

Just because I dont believe there is not a planet in our solar system called Jupiter, does not make it true, and therefore I may forever deny it, and it may never even affect my everyday life, but Jupiter still exists.

Your argument against God is analogous....

Did God not tell his loyal servants:

"You need to believe to understand"

But modern culture asks to understand in order to believe... and there in lies the problem with your thinking... just like the Jews that asked for a sign, or perhaps you wish to settle for the wisdom of the Greeks......

Pray that this veil of iniquity is taken away from your eyes, that you may understand God's word, for its beautiful, more than you can imagine......

                          James.

Actually, whether I believe that Jupiter exists or not, its gravitational pull affects earth, and therefore affects in ways I can not prove or discern, but it does affect earth on which my little body rests, so I may deny Jupiter exists, and no one can make me believe otherwise if I so chose, because unless they are willing to transport me there and prove it to me, I can continue to believe it does not exist......

As no one is likely to transport me there just to prove this fact, you can see why I can use this false argument to refuse the plain facts......

Get the idea of your argument Christopher????

From your writing, it is clear what you know, yet also clear of your rebellious soul.

Have a restful day, and pray!!!!
