Request to pull Guantanamo lawyer plan »

The Bush administration is trying to evade responsibility for problems at the Guantanamo Bay prison by falsely blaming defense lawyers for the trouble, the New York City Bar says. The group's president leveled the criticism in asking Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to abandon a Justice Department proposal to limit lawyers' access to detainees.

    Why do these men have to agree to counsel? I thought they were ALL already being represented by the ACLU and it's many affiliates. Why haven't they all agreed to counsel?

      Take away more rights to counsel!

      Damn, Bush is good.

      Even as he and his empire fall, he does the maximum damage he can to society.

        Heard the same thing in court, the judge blaming defense lawyers. Says alot about some judges that do not believe in "due process" requirements and fair play. Its time to get all of this chicanery out in the open.
