It's far from easy to quantify the accomplishments of great players in any given sport. Who are the top 4 hockey players of all time: Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Orr, Mario Lemieux, Maurice Richard? How about gridiron football? Or baseball, which has so many greats.

The title said soccer jackass. The only real football is American football where real MEN that weigh 300 lbs, bench 500 lbs, and run 4.4 40's beat the crap out of each other.
SOCCER is just a sissy sport for sissy little pretty boy girly men and europen soccer racists. You guys still throwing banannas on the field at black players? Lol, Italy cant even have fans in the stadiums anymore soccer fans are so pathetic. To think the world believes europe is more civilized. Haha!

Peter Schmeichel (sorry that it's spelled wrong), Ronaldo, and Pele are my favs. I love watching International Football.

ok in regards to ciera maries comment about how citys dont close down to go see football games, thats a load of crap. my home town of lockport is a ghost town when we play on friday nights. and if you ever put a soccer player toe to toe with any football player other than maybe a kicker(kickers are usually ex-soccer players) they would be destroyed and go home crying to there mommy...that is if they wernt in the hospital.

Hannibal - Rugby players are the true competitors- they get dressed in nothing more than what amounts to underwear & procede to try to kill each other - on the other hand NFL players get dressed up like armored tanks bump into each other & collect a big pay check.
NBA is far from non contact -these guys are about the toughest of American athletes. Try standing under a back board & have a 250lb 6'6" guy land on you.
Soccer players have a stamina unknown to most American athletes not on steroids.
BUT - soccer fans are the toughest fans in any sport.
Ever go to a soccer stadium? the home & away fans aren't even allowed to sit in the same grandstands

And Big League hockey?? What a joke - it's a dying sport anyway can't even get tv airtime for most games-
You dress up some guys in a little less armor than an Americam footballer - put him out on the ice , he skates around for a minute whacks his opponent (a player is an easier target than the puck) gets a foul & sits down again.
This is sport? its a joke!
I went to a boxing match & a hockey game broke out.
