April 30, 2007, 11:43 a.m.It's a cartoon willy, I think a PG will be fine! Kids will chuckle, and that'll be about it.
STUPID NETSCAPE! I had to edit this to say chuckle, instead of s.n.i.g.g.e.r as it starred out everything but the S. I can see why obviously but come one, it's a completely different word ffs!

April 30, 2007, 12:43 p.m.I can't get why the Simpsons is stooping to some of the comedy approaches I've seen in the previews. I always thought the show was funny as it was.
I think Futurama is hilarious. Why couldn't they just take the old Simpsons ideas and mix it with some of the humor Futurama had instead of resorting to nudity and crude violence. (I always thought the violence before was extremely limited and mild)

April 30, 2007, 1:12 p.m.I find it hard to believe that people are getting chatty about a little, harmless adolescent nudity! Kids do not have the hangups "adults" do about bathing or playing naked, it is not until adults "educate" them to be embarassed that shame develops.
It is unfortunate that in the United States the average person automatically has sexual thoughts at the slightest hint of a bare breast or buttock! If adult parents did not perpetuate the culture of shame our children would not have such problems with it.
It is the majority of adults in this country that need to grow up!

April 30, 2007, 1:26 p.m.so now we live in a society where we discuss cartoon nudity as a possible danger while graphic depictions of decapitation and stuff we normally see on CSI are a.o.k.

April 30, 2007, 2:21 p.m.The cartoon, is simply a cartoon. Its not like South Park, where it almost seems the creaters go out of their way to make it un-wholesome. The Simpson contains very little profanity when looked at in prespective.

April 30, 2007, 2:57 p.m.Most people are just way too puritanical here. Who cares if kids see a penis. Half the audience looks at one each time they go to the bathroom and the other half has probably seen one playing doctor with a neighbor before shes 10.
Any R rating should be because of how Bart uses it not that he has it. Silly... Simply silly.

April 30, 2007, 3:37 p.m.this cartoon is and has always been for adults and never small children. yes, it should be rated "R" without doubt.

April 30, 2007, 4:04 p.m.The whole "Simpsons" thing is trash! I saw a few 'happy hour' episodes in 2003, and I thought to myself "what a brain-dead, filthy bunch of crap." When my teenage daughter lived at home, she was not allowed to watch it because of the projected 'bad attitude' of the charactors and story lines.
These shows were made for 'mentally challenged' couch potatoes, and because of the content, should be rated X.
If no one under the age of 30 watched it, it would be dead history.

April 30, 2007, 4:11 p.m.It depends if the nudity is baby Bart, or growing Bart...
Then again, animation is a form of art, and nudity in art is never censored. I mean, come on, its a drawing, and not a detailed one at that.

April 30, 2007, 4:09 p.m.The whole "Simpson thing" is trash! It should be rated X for the language, attitude, and just plain garbage. My teen daughter was never allowed to watch it, and if no one under 30 watched it, it would be dead history. This show was apparently made for 'mentally challenged' teens, and die-hard couch potatoes. I have more constructive things to do with my time and money, than to wallow in this filth.

April 30, 2007, 9:04 p.m.It seems a little ridiculous that Bart has to show it all in order to generate more hype about the movie, when it is such a well known cartoon. But I can't imagine that the Simpsons movie is any worse than most of the movies that slip by with a PG-13 rating.

April 30, 2007, 11:22 p.m.Denden - when your daughter comes home from work does she ask you to change all those $1 bills?

April 30, 2007, 11:23 p.m.Until Donald Duck puts on a pair of pants - the Simpsons should not get an R rating

May 1, 2007, 12:36 a.m.It'd be a better movie *with* an R rating, I'll say that - then they could also put more adult humor in it.

May 1, 2007, 1:51 a.m.then why are the simpsons on fox?

May 1, 2007, 5:05 a.m.How can you equate The Simpsons with liberal wants and desires? It's satire- Marge and Homer genuinely love their kids, they're not divorced, they go to church on Sunday's, they are blindly patriotic, support gun culture etc etc. Looks more like the values conservatives hold to their hearts to me.
The Simpsons is a parody- it lampoon's American society and the only ones that tend be ashamed, that I can see, are the people that see a little bit of themselves represented by it.

May 1, 2007, 2:12 a.m.Yeah, and let's give the Met a 'R' rating too.
Imprison 14 year olds found in the possesion of Botticelli prints.
And close the Sistine Chapel for exposing children to pornography.

May 1, 2007, 8:16 a.m.I can't wait to see it. I'd prefer it to have a R rating just so we aren't in a theatre with 100 4-5 yr olds!

May 1, 2007, 8:50 a.m.This is speculation people! Is it "official" that there is going to be full-frontal cartoon nudity? It's hard to dole out a rating for a film that hasn't been seen by anyone yet.
I'd be surprised if the creators made the movie have an "R" rating--I bet it'll be PG-13 to maximize profits--"The Simpsons" has never really been an R-rated franchise in my opinion, unlike "Family Guy" or the far superior "South Park."
But who knows? The original cut of masterpiece "Team America" got an NC-17 rating--and the puppets didn't even have gentalia. Now THAT's ridiculous.
