Sarko is very slick on the surface and he knows how to present the best image for the cameras, but his own flares of temper are infamous. Sego appeared more sincere, more... honest? She would represent a refreshing departure from the old male political guard in France. She was much stronger at the debate than she had appeared throughout her campaign.

Naturally I can't understand French, but I did hear some of the debate on NPR (didn't get a chance to hear the analysis) ... and you could hear the obvious enmity ...

Since the fifth republic was established, and the electoral college was replaced by majority in the popular vote, the presidential figure has gained legitimacy before the people.

The feeling of representation increases participation by the electorate and sharing of responsibilities as a citizen.

The turn out in election is significant 80 to 85%

I would like to hear opinions in favor or in opposition to our electoral college method.

Best wishes for the future of the French democracy!

If France is a monkey than the US is a Jacka** as long as you have Bush in office, don't think for one minute people all over the world aren't laughing at the fix your in. Maybe a little more respect for the people who helped plant and nurture the seed of modern democracy would be good.

I'm rooting Royal, but the odds aren't in her favor.
