A President Gone AWOL »
Posted by: gatitabonitasen 2 years, 7 months agoGeorge Bush, the most ideologically-driven and politically calculating president in American history, wants Americans to believe that he has suddenly discovered a moral high ground from which to make grand declarations about why he must maintain the occupation of Iraq. After vetoing legislation Tuesday that gave him the money to continue his war

May 3, 2007, 5:37 p.m."Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the president to explain to us what the exit strategy is. I think it's also important for the president to lay out a timetable as to how long they will be involved and when they will be withdrawn." -- George W. Bush

May 3, 2007, 6:58 p.m.Also, victory means direct benefit. There is no direct benefit to the American people if we kill all of the insurgents (an impossible feat in and of itself) so therefore, there is no winning. People are dying for no reason.
How dare he say that Democrats are playing politics. He invented that move. He is the one who sent our nations armies into battle without the proper provisions to start with and now he is blaming others for standing up and saying that he can't just leave this mess for someone else to clean up.
To quote Alec Baldwin, "what a disgusting pig"

May 3, 2007, 8:27 p.m.When are you folks going to figure out that for all your shouting and foaming at the mouth, Bush haters and white flag raisers are in the minority? The election in 2006 was about people not being happy with where the Republican party was taking us with over the top government spending, lack of border control and wining in Iraq. It was not a mandate for all things liberal & self-centered and it was not a mandate to surrender in Iraq. The fact that a majority of Americans are disappointed with president Bush's performance does not equal they think he should be impeached, tried for treason or any of that BS. The fact is, the people that think that are considered far left fringe whackos by the majority of the country. But you just go on screaming & drooling, its really going to help in the 2008 elections.

May 3, 2007, 9:53 p.m.Oismay and hamy - What kind of stuff you two been smoking? Neither of you could have possibly served in the military! You have no idea about leadership, tough decisions, courage under fire, but you continue to talk about running away and hiding! This President has moral character and courage. Neither of which are evident in your garbage about victory.
Let some of us, who know the "cost of victory," share with you. Suffice to say, it won't be in this response. I can definitely tell both of you, Victory is not based on selfish personal-benefit, it's based on personal courage.
An exit strategy has nothing to do with victory. When we enter the conflict, regardless of how, we persevere to the end. AFTER the conflict, and AFTER victory, do we talk of exiting. Only now the democrats, you two jamokes, and this author are talking of leaving our men behind, of abandoning them on the field of battle, and claiming, "It's o.k., since we had no direct benefit."
