STONERS
May 3, 2007, 1:12 p.m.It's called GasBuddyToGo.com, and if your cell phone has an Internet connection, it may be your wallet's new best friend.
Just type in a city name or zip code in the search box and you'll get a list of the nearest gas stations in the GasBuddy survey (with the lowest prices first).

May 3, 2007, 7:10 p.m.After checking six towns around me including the largest, I would have saved three cents a gallon. On 20 gallons of gas that saved me 60 cents and would have cost me a lot more if I were to drive to one of them. I tried several major cities and the best I can find is a three cent per gallon saving. In my are and where I travel it isn't worth it.

May 4, 2007, 4 a.m.Hello America! Welcome to the world of expensive gas. Here in the UK it works out at equivalently to about US$10 a gallon, so I converted my car to run on LPG and I have never made a better decision. Half the price to run, MUCH greener and also my oil in the sump stays clean! Trouble is, the filling stations are currently few and far between and secondly our Chancellor of the Exchequer (Minister of Finance to you) has only guaranteed to keep the tax on LPG at a low level for another 2 years and then when he find he can skin us for even more tax by making the ecologically more sound way to drive cost the same as polluting petrol, just you watch the taxes on LPG spiral. Don't you hate politicians?

May 4, 2007, 12:01 p.m.Actually, these two e-mails have circulated (in some form) every time there's been a significant price increase in the past several years.
There could actually be some effect, at least as far as drawing the attention of the oil companies. Unless you can actually find an alternative to buying gas at any point, it will not effect the demand overall.
The most potentially effective of the two would be rejecting to buy from EXXON or Shell would depend on how many participated and how long it could be sustained. It would also require people to actually read on the pumps who the wholesale supplier was, what name they operated under, and be able to tie them back to petrol corporation. Gas sold by EXXON isn't necessarily in a gas station labeled EXXON, but could be a variety of business names.
I'm including this link, full of great info on petroleum, in general. Very educational, but some is dated:
