Much too complicated for normal investers.
I am a successful investor and I buy nothing but oil companies and utilities. Both have been very successful for me and will continue to be so.
The energy problem will be around from now on. My dividends on these companies total well over 6% per year and continue to move upward every year. It's a true no-brainer.

yes, commodities are good investments. They also are diversify your stocks and other investments very well.
