The chief executives of America's 500 biggest companies got a collective 38 percent pay raise last year, to $7.5 billion. That's an average $15.2 million apiece. Exercised stock options again account for the main component of pay, 48 percent. The average stock gain was $7.3 million.

    Now does anyone know why we cannot have universal health care and education from cradle to grave? I think an annual allotment of $7.5 Bil would be good start!

      Again these obscene salaries are a disgrace to every working American. These numbers cannot be justified and should not. Their idiotic comment has always been we have to do this in order to retain good people. Hah, the auto companies have been losing money and customers for years. Companies are filing for bankruptcy in increased numbers. CEO's are brought in to help failing companies and 1 year later they are fired with severance packages in the tens of millions. Retain good people ,are they nuts?
